i hate it tbh. seems like some facilities in the US still can't get enough ppe and now everyday folks are supposed to buy not only masks, but goggles and face shields? other countries have flattened the curve with just masks and smart reopening. this seems like another way to blame people for going about their lives, but do nothing to actually help them. that's my 2 cents so far

anyway, masks are definitely proven to be effective, so do wear them and keep a distance. the other stuff seems excessive to me. but i am not a doctor.

@seanking my tweet does oversimplify things. mozilla corporation (mozilla.com) is separate from mozilla foundation (mozilla.org). one would hope there would share goals and maybe they do but were just stuck between a rock and a hard place, but i find that hard to believe. the corporate side has made questionable decisions for years, imo.

i am surprised that neither mastodon nor pleroma has a way to hide accounts you're following from the main timeline (i.e. so they'll only show in your lists)like... everybody has to have a separate account for even *looking* at exclusively nsfw accounts, i guess? or else have it in the main feed all the time?there's some news feed bots that it would be great to be able to see in a list when desired but keep out of my home timeline. alas, not possible

old data from dead instances hanging around on other instances indefinitely, with no way for the dead instances' former users to remove their data, and w/ their posts capable of being resurfaced on those other instances if someone else starts up an instance on that domain again in the future... that's not a vulnerability so much as negligent design.AP instances should be able to advertise an expiration period to handle the event they go offline.
