@realcaseyrollins @esdin @AaronZA @AaronZA@mastodon.gamedev.place This is exactly what I'm doing at the moment but I'd like to consolidate. I'm evaluating some alternative clients to see if I can view specific community timelines from a single account rather than using the federated timeline, but there's also the benefit of being listed on more than one user directory which I imagine could help with discoverability when trying to network within multiple communities? I'm trying to find the balance here still. Twitter was a good place for me to build an audience and make connections that led to work and it seems like that's harder to do here?

I guess #Tumblr will eventually integrate with #ActivityPub, making it interoperable with #Mastodon to some extent? If this is true, social media in 2023 is gonna be wild. If you hate Mastodon but want to stay connected to folks who moved here, consider keeping an eye on Tumblr.

@misty yeah, I'm trying to devise a protocol for migrating with proper redirection as long as you have a valid archive and some way of verifying you are the real owner of those posts. I have some ideas. There are also some half-written specs for a distributed data integrity layer but I don't think it covers the problem space a layuser will most likely face. I'd love to workshop this with folks who are interested.

@eniko tornadoes and floods getting more common in weird places now. getting real hard to ignore the need for better climate policies, at least for infrastructure if nothing else.

@eniko I know it's been a pipe dream for years but we're real close to safe/sustainable/cheap fusion energy (as of ~6 months ago). If that pans out and governments have enough fire under their asses we could wipe fossil fuels off the map. https://www.youtube.com/embed/_bDXXWQxK38A lot of private interests are gonna do everything they can to fight it but at least there's a viable solution to a big chunk of the energy crisis on the horizon.
