Starting to think global general strikes are needed to get governments to take climate change seriously. This thought brought to you by 37C high/27C low temperature

@eniko which in some places of the Mediterranean is 9C above average for this month. Just in case someone doubts that this is way off the charts.

@eniko I really don’t envy you guys right now. When it got that hot in India, it was A/C or death.

@eniko there's some areas of Sicily that'll hit over 45C high. You can't work, you can't breathe, you can't think with those temperatures. I'm tempted to say it's the new normal but chances are it's not; it's just the beginning.

@eniko tornadoes and floods getting more common in weird places now. getting real hard to ignore the need for better climate policies, at least for infrastructure if nothing else.

@eniko I know it's been a pipe dream for years but we're real close to safe/sustainable/cheap fusion energy (as of ~6 months ago). If that pans out and governments have enough fire under their asses we could wipe fossil fuels off the map. https://www.youtube.com/embed/_bDXXWQxK38A lot of private interests are gonna do everything they can to fight it but at least there's a viable solution to a big chunk of the energy crisis on the horizon.

@sbseltzer or they'd just subsidize fossil fuels even harder. Solar and wind are already way cheaper than fossil

Guess it's good for the elites in their air conditioned homes that a billionaire just destroyed the only platform on which a global climate strike could've been coordinated
