Every project of sufficient complexity that I work on involves points of knowing when to stop, walk away, and then come back to it with fresh eyes/brain, insteading of wasting time and sending my blood pressure through the roof reapeatedly hitting my head on things.

@stux the only downside to not running any M$ products is having to variously blame Apple, Linux, Nvidia (their Linux drivers on a rolling release, to be specific), vim, WINE, and the list goes on. At least Windows users can put all their blame in one place

@stux I love credit cards, and won’t use anything else for buying things online or subscriptions. If I get screwed, I just refuse to pay until it is fixed. Trying to claw money back from a bank is harder, and you’re out the funds until/unless they do. I am careful to not really carry a balance, though.

@stux It at the very least is the *type* of business that they’re running: make the investors rich(er). It’s the sort of “never enough” mentality that is extremely dangerous. It’s not like a group even of hundreds or thousands of people are deciding to make a “thing”, care about user experience, and saying to themselves that they’re making enough money to support themselves and operation.

@lanodan @maia I was about to say the same thing. My non-FruitCo devices are both SUSE-based (one rolling, one stable). Aside for those who don’t know its origins, but it did start out as a German translation of Slackware.

@stux Until I blocked them, I was dealing with one elsewhere, who apparently had enough awareness that it’s an extremely scammy space but still thought that the Ponzi Scheme that they were invested in was “real”.These are usually the sort who are surprised when the leopards start eating their faces.

@stux If that’s anything like my first smartphone, it has taken a tumble down a long flight of concrete stairs on multiple occasions with nary a scratch, and then got the spiderwebs from a relatively gentle fall onto grass.
