I really don’t like credit cards, it feels wrong to buy ‘random’ stuff with money you don’t have I guess!Lending from the bank and buying a house or car is something else in my book though :blobcatgiggle: But I have neither so 💪

@stux I have so far managed to keep away from credit cards. I hope I can continue.

@stux I totally agree with you. I think most dutch people only have one for when they travel abroad. And whenever my only option is to use one, I simply opt-out of using the product. There are so many alternative payment options, add some please.

@stux in the UK buying on a credit card gives the buyer extra protections. Basically if something you buy is wrong and or the seller refuses a refund your entitled to then the credit card company is legally obliged to refund you themselves. Also it's much less of a problem if my credit card gets fraudulent transactions than my debit card. If my debit card is compromised my actual money is gone, on the credit card I just don't pay the unauthorised charges.

@stux but I am also careful to pay off 100% of the charges each month so I don't go into debt and don't incur any interest charges. All the buying & security benefits with none of the costs 😉

@stux huh. I pay my card off every month, so to me it's like a debit card but it's a middle man. I'm not giving every vendor access to my bank account.

@stux I have a card that gives me a percentage back depending on what I purchase. I then pay it off monthly. I rarely use my debit card.

@stux I use a credit card for everything for various Rewards Points but I pay them off at the end of every month so I don't have to pay interest.

@stux think of credit cards just like a 10 to 40 days delay in payments, does this sound any better to you? 😄

@stux Interesting, you're Dutch, right? I noticed a tendency toward cash last time I was in NL compared with the US. But yet all your cards have the fancy PINs while the US is just catching up with that [checks watch], never.

@stux I love credit cards, and won’t use anything else for buying things online or subscriptions. If I get screwed, I just refuse to pay until it is fixed. Trying to claw money back from a bank is harder, and you’re out the funds until/unless they do. I am careful to not really carry a balance, though.
