@lydiaconwell@mas.to @frankie@mstdn.social @404zzz@stereophonic.space#world #advice #thebiologist1117dear_diaryDear diary,Six years ago or more, my mom told me something her boyfriend (at the time) asked her on Facebook, and that thing was, "Are you satisfied in life?"I don't know why, but that always pops into my head when I don't know what to think about. "Are you satisfied in life?"It's so stupid. My mom's ex was a rumpkin. I don't know why I held onto that of all things to remember. It's a good question, though, because I don't always think about if I'm satisfied. I forget, and I think it matters.Am I satisfied in life?I think its scope is too large. Can I really say whether I'm "satisfied in general about life?" Life is more complex than that. There are things you're satisfied with, and things you aren't.Because my answer is no, I'm not satisfied. But why am I not satisfied? It's because I overthink things, and instead of doing what I need to be doing, I just think about doing it instead. The "fix" for that is to just do things instead of thinking about doing them and then not.But that's actually quite difficult for me to overcome.I wait instead of doing because it feels natural to me, and I do it because I'm stressed. It creates a never-ending cycle of never doing what I need to be doing because I'm too stressed, and then eventually I go crazy, and that makes it all the more difficult. In conclusion, the answer to being satisfied in life is to do what you need to do instead of just thinking about it.Do what you need to do as soon as you think about it.Don't "not do it." Do it as soon as you wake up. Do it right now.

@lydiaconwell@mas.to @frankie@mstdn.social @404zzz@stereophonic.space#thebiologist1117dear_diaryPart 2Also, not all things can be accomplished quickly and easily.Sometimes you have to start doing something you need to do, and then you have to keep coming back to it.Putting in effort into doing something over a long period of time is what gets results. It's not "do it all now or never do it."You start now, and then you come back to it, and you keep coming back to it.You do a little now, then little later, every day. This concludes my #TED_Talk.

@thebiologist1117 @lydiaconwell @frankie Thank you it was an interesting read. I would like to read more stuff like this!Well I personally think if someone can die with a smile on their face, then they are satisfied with life. What they did or didn't do doesn't matter.

@thebiologist1117 @lydiaconwell @404zzz @frankie Absolutely. Every project of sufficient complexity that I work on involves points of knowing when to stop, walk away, and then come back to it with fresh eyes/brain, insteading of wasting time and sending my blood pressure through the roof reapeatedly hitting my head on things.
