@grunfink By the way doesn’t snac have its own account ? Is it fine to mention you instead ?It helps spread the word on the Fediverse to have an account for the app you can mention

@twylo And this is what to get when a project manager’s success is measured in subscription dollars per line of code.

I love spicy 🌶️ food, and I love feeling the heat of the sun virtually setting fire to my face. I once heard this and liking (too) hot showers had to do with depression 🤷🏻♂️Unfortunately my skin isn’t adapted so I enjoy this particular vice parsimoniously because skin cancer isn’t cool (and neither the immediate effects of a sunburn). So I *want to believe* at least this one study here is true: https://hsph.harvard.edu/news/frequent-spicy-food-consumption-linked-with-lower-death-risk/

My (hibernating) site blog / currently runs Pico CMS but it has no corresponding Gemini capsule . Thinking I might just start over from my Raspberry One Capsule and move the blog there.gemini://capsuleone.n4no.org/index.gmiSure for the traffic it gets it could even run on the Pi one too :-)

@wjmaggos This gets me wondering how many eggs per week do these people eat for this to matter. I say that and I eat a lot of eggs but surely variations on the price of energy would affect me more .

@wjmaggos Yeah I see this from all sides indeed. In Brazil it’s the price of olive oil for example (which is imported so it mostly reflects the value of foreign currencies). It’s easier to point out the economical difficulties of the working class with common groceries pricing rather than the underlying causes of economic uncertainty.

@ErikUden On the upside we will save time. Think of all the hours wasted trying to explain that not crypto fascism wasn’t about cryptocurrency.

I should be getting my Trashcan Mac Pro back next month. I will switch it to Linux but hesitate on the distro. Any experiences ?A comment here says PopOS 24 (alpha with Cosmic Desktop) runs fine. Might be a good choice for experimenting with it.https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/linux-on-a-2013-mac-pro.2439072/

It has 64GB RAM which would make it great for some server uses but given heat issues and energy consumption it’s probably better off as a desktop which properly sleeps when inactive. My Linux desktop Ryzen MiniPc runs PopOS 22 so this might replace it while the MiniPc just becomes another #Proxmox host.Just not sure I can get synergy 1.x working on top of XWayland with Cosmic.

@selzero To be fair the pre-existing contract was probably the result of prior lobbying aka corruption. My only hope for the US at this point is for China to buy it back at a cheap price on a bored Tuesday and try to restore a functioning government.

@wjmaggos I am afraid they would just label the kids enemy combatants and keep on bombing them. After all they didn’t stop for all the others kids.

@ploum I haven’t migrated my personal instance yet I run it on https://n4no.org . It’s also perfect when you just want to setup an independent bot on its own domain.

@grunfink Speaking of tags I don’t see a 2.75 tag, only 2.74. Is it me ?(I have an update script that gets the latest tag).

@adele Has someone suggested also using w as a subdomain to signify that it’s lightweight ? I believe that would make sense.I mean like w.sm0l.org instead of www.sm0l.org .

@wjmaggos Agreed. Unfortunately “decentralized payment” is a mined territory filled with crypto bros. I prefer state control to evil corporations or individuals.Brazil for example has a state-defined system called Pix which means you can easily send money to a registered phone number or email (or a random key). Works online or with that guy selling food on the beach (it is simply backed by a bank account). No fees for individuals.

@wjmaggos I have never integrated it on a site myself but I hear it’s pretty straightforward yes. For simple uses people just generate a QR code and with any Brazilian banking or commerce app people can scan and pay the desired amount (or chose it), notifying recipient immediately. Brilliantly simple and accessible (to anyone with a bank account).Recurring payments with Pix were planned yes and I am not sure if they are available already.
