@tychi I forgot to say that it supports end to end encryption and has an app for every platform.the thing I love about it the most is that people around me love it and actually started using it with me (I had a very hard time convincing people to use matrix before)

@tychi I was going to tell you earlier today that I regret recommending proton mail to you. I think it's still better than gmail, but I don't like how they are locking you in their ecosystem. All the privacy things they talk about is just marketing, encryption only works between proton mail to proton mail, and you have to use their clients. so to make use of this privacy features you have to use their clients and to talk to people using proton mail, this doesn't sound like a decentralized email to me. I hope you are using it with your custom domain so you can change it easily in the future if you want.

@muppeth I use it with my daily address and I haven't encountered any problems yet. It keeps all of my messages in a separate folder, and you can also tell delta to not watch regular emails, so you can keep every thing separated.

So I stopped using some services recently that most people think they are impossible to get away from. But what is goddamn impossible for me is this music service (anghami) I am using. I tried to download some creative commons music to listen to and decided to change my taste in music to what is available, i couldn't, life has no taste without my music. Without anghami I have two options, either download it illegally or use Youtube, both are practically and philosophically worse.

@penny @DesCoutinho @mewmew @cy So after I thought about it more, now I think that Downloading it Is the best of all the bad options I have. I found an awesome package called deemix that downloads whole albums and atrists from deezer (with all the music tagged). Thanks guys for your good bad advice 😄

the free software needs a search engineProblems with Duckduckgo:not free software (you can’t self host it)all the privacy things they talk about is just a pinky promisepromotes non free servicesuses bing after allthere is also Searx which is a metasearch engine (gets you results from other search engines)Problems with Searx:not a real search engineunder the mercy of search engines to not do what Google does and block it, which in my opinion will happen sooner or later. And there is Yacy, which is a really cool “real” search engine where search index is distributed over multiple instances in a network so they share the disk storageProblems with Yacy:ancient, and seems to be not actively maintaineduglywritten in JavaMaybe the perfect solution is a new server that is compatible with the existing Yacy network, but with newer code and stronger community.

I've decided to quit smoking cold turkey after many years of smoking 2 packs a day and many failed attempts. I hate it, It's the worst thing in my life. I hope I can do it this time.

I am thinking about changing my domain name. The npq in my current domain name (saadnpq.com) doesn’t really mean anything and it’s hard to remember. I will use my full real name on my new domain.I found .xyz and .io available but I can’t decide which one to choose. The first problem with .io is that it’s intended to be used as a country code top-level domain for the British Indian Ocean Territory, I know it’s widely used now by tech companies, but I don’t like those hacks. xyz is more generic, not associated with companies, and more memorable for people who have never seen both. The good only thing about .io is that it’s popular and shorter than .xyzWhat do you think?

@mgrondin Just like .io .pizza is actually a country code TLD for Italy.
