@aktivismoEstasMiaLuo the dude is literally a cryptologist and one of the more advanced consultants in the field... maybe you want to explain your sentiment?

@aktivismoEstasMiaLuo how does ypur dependence on banks differ from your dependence from ledgers or the addition of your transactions within them?de-centralized doesn't mean "less centralized" it means you can be your own bank if you wish -- which is clearly not a thing that is solved by any crypto currency

@csepp @cnx @xarvos thisalso i gave up pretty soon on the startx attempt -> guix works fine with gdm and why bother changing it. IIRC you can configure extra tty's which you might be able to use with C-M-F2 C-M-F3 etc

@koherecoWatchdog cool vs uncool explained by a nerd smells like failure. but a simple "no" is more than adequate. imagine knowing but not tellingyou raise a pretty hard question. in my experience people understand control over personal data and the immanent threat of MegaCorp knowing each and every step we make. but it's not the kind of light-weight small-talk material we're used to exchange.it's a blurry line between digi-woke and surveillance-conspiracy for the clueless

@gabriel you are hitting (internal) timing constraints. imagine all the wires in your die sum up to kilometers of connections. electricity is fast but eventually pulses won't reach their goals within a clock pulse. that's your upper clock rate limit (or however that's called)

@abcdw i've been asking myself whether i should "clutter" my home profile with stuff i sometimes work with (gcc-toolchain, LaTeX packages, etc) or if i should just pack those into manifests and only activate those when i need them.to other people keep their manifests in a centralized location?

@csepp people don't stand at desks for too long - standing is not per se better than sitting for hours. the key is changing position regularlyset a timer, get up and walk some steps hourly - even a few minutes make a big difference

@csepp you're a hacker, no?just let your x win system freeze for five minutes unless you enter "i am a lazy ass and am willing to destroy my health" with your keyboard (something like a timed xlock/i3lock?)

@thezerobit i doubt it. machines with "Programming manuals" tend to be parts of museums (or rather old industrial sites) and i doubt their manuals still being actively produced.is there a manual for the first Fortran?
