Twitter will stop offering free access to its API from February 9 on.This will hopefully reduce the crossposting seen on Mastodon.https://www.cnbctv18.com/technology/twitter-to-stop-offering-free-access-to-its-api-from-february-9-15841121.htm

@valsan @sirber You could lose data by forcibly closing programs on Windows. So it makes sense the way they do it.Remember Windows is older than USB drives.

@grillchen @mgorny For me it heavily depends on the practice. If I visit them for dinner, and they want to pray, I will be silent and not disturb. If they visit me and tell me I can't eat due to Ramadan, they can go home.I show respect, but not obedience.

The "official" Mastodon app is now available on Fdroid. My opinion: use Tusky or Fedilab, both are better.https://www.f-droid.org/packages/org.joinmastodon.android/

If you want to talk to someone on Mastodon without giving them your phone number, you might want to look at Timurs Web Call, which now supports calls using your (and their) Mastodon account names. It also supports Mastodon notification when someone calls.https://timur.mobi/webcall/mastodon/

A catholic group spent millions on app data that tracked gay priests, and handed the data to church officials. This shows how anybody can buy and misuse commercially available data. And how important privacy is.https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2023/03/09/catholics-gay-priests-grindr-data-bishops/

I found a Camera app on Fdroid that is nifty for documenting changes. While taking a picture you can have a transparent overlay of another picture to align. That lets you make the "same" pictures at different times and compare them for new (or missing) things. Use VES for conpare, it can alternate pictures so the differences blink.https://www.f-droid.org/packages/org.jshobbysoft.cameraalign/https://www.f-droid.org/packages/com.vincentengelsoftware.vesandroidimagecompare/
