@thor The nice thing with Mikrotik is that you can orcestrate your APs (single SSID) with a Mikrotik switch/router with jucier hardware. I would have used such a setup at home if it wasn't for the fact that I got a hold of 5 used Aruba APs for free – which are also great for this use case.

@thor Aruba is generally more expensive and enterprise-oriented, I think. You get the same (maybe even more?) features with Mikrotik for a much nicer price. If I had not gotten these 3+ year old Aruba APs for free, I would have gone with Mikrotik. Ubiquiti is out of the question :)

@peter Usually not often enough, I can go months without updating, and then do three updates in a week.

@thor I would advise taking pictures all over the place before you move your stuff in to document the condition of the appartment. Typically you should document scratches in the floor and any other visible things that can later be blamed on you and used as a reason to not pay the bond back.

Check out the new #streaming service #Resonate! It is a co-op owned by the artists and listeners – no VC money! It is still young and does not have #Spotify's massive catalog … but I love it!I strongly encourage you to check out their About page to get a compact explanation of how it works: https://resonate.is/about/Oh, and everything is #OpenSource and they have spent a lot of effort fostering a constructive community – it is a #coop after all. What are you waiting for, sign up today (€10)!

@matt I discovered that you can write woordle in 20 lines of bash before I knew what it was all about. Still doesn't know what it is about, but here you go: https://gist.github.com/aaronNGi/04a209b1cd17f1fa03af7a87eb14cc42

@thor As I understand it, they have split the tangle into one "stable" branch and one "testing", to expedite what they call "coordicide", when they close down the coordinator for good. I have been following the project since the early days, and it has been some ups and downs. What keeps me rooting for them is that they are quite different from every other crypto currency project, and was the first who did something very different than a classical blockchain.

@thor there is actually a somewhat similar project, where you peer up to do a videochat with a rando, but you are not expected to keep a conversation, just keep each other company while both are working on something for an hour. Having someone "present" makes it psychologicaly harder to procrastinate. I'll see if I can find the website.

@thor also, to take it a step further, you should make a text-to-voice thing that reads out comments from viewers live, to encourage you or criticize sloppy work ("there is more dirt on that rug!").

@thor maybe this isa nieche market? Peering single people cleaning their apartments together? You make a cleaning schedule, and clean at the same time.I'm lucky enough to have a partner making me clean more often than I would do myself. Having some accountability really helps!

@thor I wonder how much the usage statistics for Firefox is skewed by privacy conscious users obscuring the user agent and other data with extensions etc. I imagine it can be quite a big chunk of Firefox users.

@Gina I found a dead-simple solution that actually works. Bookmarks (in firefox)! But I do not put them in folders, I only tag them with a couple of relevant keywords. I sync it with Firefox Sync, so I have access on my phone and other computers. Also, I disabled cookies and history, so when I use the omnibar, I only search in my own bookmarks – a much betger signal to noise ratio!

I do not think the current #Twexit would have happened nearly as fast (or at all?) if #Musk had not published a single tweet after he bought Twitter. So thank you #Elon, for (inadvertently) doing the world this incredible service of pushing hordes of people over to the #Fediverse, away from algorithms, ads and the toxic culture that followed in its wake.People, governments and organisations now has the tools to foster deliberate online communities spread over thousands of smaller instances!
