me normally: barely anything gets done and i'm not happy about it me on antidepressants: barely anything gets done and i don't care me on alcohol: nothing gets done and i don't careme on stimulants: stuff gets done, but it's the wrong stuff, and i can't relax me when i'm noticed: all the right stuff gets done and i feel happy.

clearly, this is why i spend all day on fedi. i get noticed. i would keep my apartment in impeccable condition if watching me cleaning it was a kind of entertainment for people.

@thor there is actually a somewhat similar project, where you peer up to do a videochat with a rando, but you are not expected to keep a conversation, just keep each other company while both are working on something for an hour. Having someone "present" makes it psychologicaly harder to procrastinate. I'll see if I can find the website.

@rsolva it would be a bit weird to do it in my case since i'd need it for shit like doing the dishes or taking a shower XD (if i had a shower cam it would cut off at the shoulders of course)

@thor also, to take it a step further, you should make a text-to-voice thing that reads out comments from viewers live, to encourage you or criticize sloppy work ("there is more dirt on that rug!").

@thor maybe this isa nieche market? Peering single people cleaning their apartments together? You make a cleaning schedule, and clean at the same time.I'm lucky enough to have a partner making me clean more often than I would do myself. Having some accountability really helps!

@rsolva it's similar to an idea i have been pushing for: basing an entire company around that. i have always seriously struggled with work motivation, but if somebody else is paying attention, i can keep going forever.
