My little Sooty girl. She saved me at my lowest point. Stopped me literally! Jump on my lap and stopped me. She made life beautiful. She passed away in 2021 at 18. The best 18 years of my life. Never underestimate the power of a beautiful soul and how profound the love of a pet can be. 💙#Dogs

@dc @MCFoodie @vanbadham We do have guns here. We just have sane laws that prevent psychopaths, gun nuts & mentally disturbed people from getting them. Here you have to have a legitimate reason to own one. You can't own an automatic, semi automatic, pump action or a hand gun. You have to wait a month to get one. You have to be registered, can't conceal carry or have it in a public place. Even our version of the NRA supports our gun laws here. Why? Because they don't want to be like America

@dc @MCFoodie @vanbadham Think about it just for a second. Your whole argument is about 1 being able to overthrow your government. America the 1 place that is obsessed with war. That can bring to bare more arms & personnel than any militia. Ever could. 2 is protection against the bad guys. Then why don't we have people getting gun down as often as America? There is not argument you can make that has any form of logic for not improving you gun laws. The one reason you have is you are a gun nut.

@BrodieOnLinux I give you Rusted Gnome.... Errr... The Cosmic DE by System76. Because that it all it is. Just a Gnome rewrite in rust with the same tweaks they did before.

@BrodieOnLinux I had spoken to a few System76 people on twitter a while ago when the whole gnome GTK arguments were going on. Also when the first screenshots of the UI were released. The System76 Devs are adamant that it doesn't look like Gnome. Even though Cosmic then and the new one clearly does. Which is fine. It's Gnome written in rust with all the tweaks an extensions they did done in a different and better (code wise) way. Plus a few extras. They should just own those facts.

@BrodieOnLinux KDE has inspiration from many different DEs really. Windows for some things. You are right The KDE devs insist that it's not. In recent times they have moved to a gtk/gnome look with the hamburger menu and no menu bar (which can be re-enabled). The Linux Mint team own the fact that Cinnamon has a windows-eque look and feel. It's one of the selling points that attracts people to that DE.

@BrodieOnLinux What about things like Quidsup's NoTrack? https://quidsup.net/notrack/I know it won't be for the average user. But it might still be an option. I'm surprised it doesn't get more press. Quidsup was a big name in Linux for a long time.

@BrodieOnLinux The issue is that neofetch is very common and in most repos. I'm on Debian at the moment and I can't seem to find any other fetch tools. I could just not be looking well enough. But neofetch is there and working. It's not like you need it to be fast. As long as it works well and is feature rich (which neofetch is) That's all you need.

@BrodieOnLinux If you find any to recommend that are in most repos I'll try them out. Doesn't have to be in Debian repos. A bit of compiling never hurt anyone. Might be a good video idea. A hoard of Fetch apps to replace Neofetch with

@BrodieOnLinux I am interested in seeing this and trying it out. I can say that I am not a fan of the desktop being made smaller. For some people, myself included that may make it a little bit harder to work out exactly where things are or to put them. especially on smaller screens. It's not a big issue. I have been called toxic and a hater for saying exactly what I just said. If that's so fine. I'm not either of those things. I'm not saying it is bad or that it shouldn't be the way it is.

@BrodieOnLinux I think they need a dictator so to speak for wayland. At the very least a core group at the top leading it's direction. Or maybe it's time that the Gnome devs get told by the others that they are hindering more than helping. That their DE is not the only DE on Linux & to allow the rest of the devs implement what is needed & Gnome does the Gnome thing on their own.
