@GwenfarsGarden @teslas_moustache No, there aren't really too many seed companies that really cater to a specific region or climate. There are a few, but none specific to the KC area. Rare Seeds (AKA: Baker Creek) are alright. Their selection is excellent. Unfortunately, their germination rates and seed quality are not always the best. They also have very random pricing and packet sizes. Order early as the frequently sell out. Personal recommendation. If you find something you like from them save your own seed. You will likely get better quality seed and over time your seed will adapt to your growing region. Sadly, they often discontinue varieties after only a few seasons. They have their reasons, but still frustrating. Buy more seed than you expect to use because of the aforementioned reasons. Been doing this most of my life, plus have a degree in sustainable agriculture. Happy to help with any questions or ideas. More to come in next toot.

@GwenfarsGarden @teslas_moustache https://www.fedcoseeds.comOne of my favorite seed companies for many reasons. They are the only known cooperatively owned seed company in the US. Not to mention one of the few true cooperatives in the country. Amazing quality, great selection, brilliant customer service and hilarious catalog. Disliked by many conservatives because of their strong left political views.https://turtletreeseed.org/Another amazing organization with a great mission. Excellent quality. Small but great selection. Definitely worth supporting.http://www.evergreenseeds.com/Another great family run company. Focus on Asian vegetables. Very inexpensive seeds, great quality, amazing selection and big packets. Another one of my favorites.https://www.kitazawaseed.com/Another favorite. Focus on mainly traditional Japanese seed varieties. Great quality and selection. A little high priced and small packet sizes. Excellent customer service. Family owned for over 100 years.Another toot coming.

@GwenfarsGarden @teslas_moustache https://www.seedsofindia.com/Focus on seed varieties from the Indian sub-contient. Pretty decent selection. Good customer service and fast shipping. https://www.johnnyseeds.com/Employee owned company. Good selection and very high focus on quality. Main focus is commercial sustainable/organic farmers but sell to many home gardeners too. Big focus on hybrids and selling their own varieties. Sometimes a little high priced. Amazing tools for gardening/farming.https://seedsofitaly.com/Family owned business selling seeds from an Italian company. Excellent quality and HUGE packet sizes. Focus on traditional Italian & European varieties. Great customer service. Their special selection varieties are amazing.http://www.reimerseeds.com/Amazing source for peppers and tomatoes from around the world. Great prices, fast shipping and friendly customer service. I don't know who owns them. Often have amazing sales on seeds too. Excellent quality too.Another toot coming.

@restioson @salixlucida You cannot and should be wary of this app and frankly anything from cloudflare. Just do a few minutes of searching online (outside of the first page of results) and you will start getting a better picture of CF and their data collection. Do a little reading about the warp plus, you will have second thoughts about using it. That's one reason so many people had a fit when Mozilla partnered with them. Makes absolutely no sense. I would also question their use of WireGuard (which incidentally is an amazing VPN), which is an open source project. However, the 1.1.1.1 app is NOT open source. This means they have likely forked WG and have done to it what they want. They are using the reputation of WG and its developer to get people to buy their service, yet they have contributed nothing to the project..

@ajdunevent one possible downside is your ISP tracking you. But it's that really any different than your mobile provider or hotspot or cafe wifi?

@aj @ajdunevent Wow! I used to follow you 4 or 5 years ago, back when I was also on linuxrocks (with a very different username). Ended up leaving that instance because I disagreed with how moderators treated some people. Crazy to suddenly see your name pop up today.

@Linux_in_a_Bit After using the app for years, that's my only serious complaint. Both KeePass XC and KeePass DX have that problem.

@aj exactly why I don't host my own instance. Amongst other reasons. Hope you can find a happy medium that works for you.

@aj 🤣🤣About a month ago, work was my excuse to put together a second server. All for under $100/€100 thanks to eBay. Well and the 2tb SSD I had sitting in a drawer. 😅 Could have probably made it work on the existing one, but this was fun!

@aj So how's the experiment been going the post few days? Bumps smooth out for you? Or did you have to make more changes?

@aj I hope it stabilizes for you. Did you end up finding another app to use since tusky didn't work? Or just using it in a browser for now?

So earlier this evening my partner and I were peacefully eating dinner and they were reading aloud the ingredients list for #hpbrownsauce. It occurred to me that we have something in our home that embodies all the evil of an imperialist, colonialist, capitalist nation state in a single bottle. Why the hell it took my wee brain this damn long to put that together, I'll regretfully, never know. Not buying that product ever again. I appreciate that us not buying our 1 bottle per year will make a difference. But it's the principle of it. Don't try telling me it's something that was invented because of the availability of products due to global trade and some intelligent chef. That's bullshit. It was first sold to the public in the UK in the 19th century. Do any of these ingredients originate in the UK? MolassesSugarDatesCornflourSpicesTamarindSome variations also contain tomatoes and other ingredients.

@zuzuruz With that kind of defeatist attitude, nothing will change. So why do you even care? Why do you argue about it? Why do you tell others to give up in fighting for what they believe in? Don't make assumptions that because someone is writing about anarchy on mastodon, that they're keyboard activists. You have no idea what any of us do offline to improve our communities and world and that this is merely a fraction of what we say and do.By the way, those are all rhetorical questions. I don't care about your answers. I'd rather stand in solidarity with people like @Radical_EgoCom and fight for a better world for all people. It starts with education. Will we get everything right? No. We're human. But can we make it better than it is now? Hell yes. And we will.
