@noorul I did some more reading. Lots of people say Inkscape is slow if you have blur or gradients or filters.Maybe it will run okay for typography if you don't use those effects?

@noorul That does not sound normal - when I use Inkscape it can handle a lot more that 20 objects without slowing down.

@ky0ko It's always possible that you're up a creek with a certain role.Best bet: make them clarify priorities. Reword as needed: "*we* can't do all of these. Which is number 1 priority?" If there are more than 3 priorities, you might ask for the first three, but make it clear that they need to do their job by setting the priorities and dealing with limits.I hope you aren't up a creek.

@ky0ko Ouch. What you are describing is very unprofessional on their part. You'll have to use your best judgment - sometimes it's good to put up, sometimes it's important to push back. It's rare to find management that has your back, so finding the right balance is important.I hope it works out!

@fribbledom Funny how "private" gets translated to "dark" whenever authoritarians feel insecure.

@JordiGH You probably confused them too much when you used the word "morally."

@Bashabez5 Haven't been keeping too close an eye, so this is a real question. Is she saying something completely new, or did she just win the palatability contest?Wouldn't want to criticize a kid. Context is a thing.

@Bashabez5 Sounds like you and I were thinking along the exact same lines. How many names and stories could we collect from other people who have shared that message over the centuries? It feels to me that white culture is really big on singling out individuals to put on pedestals. That can't work for our environmental problems, because individualism is the core problem. "We're in this together" won't cut it. It's got to be "we are this." Full stop.

@alexbuzzbee Are you already multilingual?I've read about several studies that indicate that, for people who only speak one language, learning Esperanto before learning their next natural language is faster than just diving in to a second natural language.

I've been hired to write #FOSS that will help close coal power plants.Getting paid to write Free Software ought to be more common and achievable. I'm going to learn and share as much as I can to that effect.https://www.unpurchased.net/blog/2019-10-24-pudl.html

@mike Another controversial opinion: It would be nice if we could point out that powerful tools that include a learning curve are useful without needing content warnings.
