       Should I learn German or Esperanto? I’ll probably learn ASL too, but I want to learn another spoken language to get better at learning languages first.

       @alexbuzzbee Are you already multilingual?I've read about several studies that indicate that, for people who only speak one language, learning Esperanto before learning their next natural language is faster than just diving in to a second natural language.

       @codesections @alexbuzzbee I don't remember where I first saw it (been a bit), but I dug this up: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propaedeutic_value_of_Esperanto

       @alexbuzzbee Definitely German, for the reasons others have suggested. I don't know about others, but the reason I'm so good at English is because I started using the internet, playing games, listening to music, etc. Basically, I got a reason to learn it.German is a language spoken in several countries, with a lot of good music, books, TV shows, Fediverse users ... Esperanto has none of those advantages.Whichever one you choose, I wish you good luck! Or viel Glück!, as Germans would say.

       @alexbuzzbee Esperanto, not only does it help you to understand the structure of languages (every noun ends in "o", every verb in "as", every adjective in "a" and so on) but it's also super fast to learn.In three months with good practice you could be at a good level.I am a spanish native speaker so i am soending my time learning english, but i took esperanto lessons in Duolingo for... a week and it was much easier than english.
