Things that #emacs had before all the cool editors had:- command palette - yes M-x is just that and even more.- built-in file browser- version control support- built-in debugger- ability to work on remote files (remote server or containers)- built in image viewer- built in browser (okay, this one is a bit of a stretch, it's very usable browser, but not as good in modern world as whatever electron offers) - built in shell and code runners Fix that emacs has (out of the box) that cool editors don't have:- email reader- irc client (ergo instant messenger) - note taking and productivity tool- multimedia tools

@fitheach@mstdn.io From user perspective? One less thing to carry (just phone) and added security with randomly generated card number. From Apple/Google the obvious one - filling in the hole in data collection. Not only they no when and where you went, but also how much you spent there

I'm debating with myself going back to Gnu Guix as my OS. NixOS is very good piece of software, but it's not written in scheme and in the end config is just fancy json file (or that is just my lack of knowledge of nix)
