@sir Depends on the former employer, the relationship with them and how much time does this waste. If the former employer was problematic, or if answering the questions would be time consuming recurring, I would call the boss to propose a consultancy contract, with a an hourly rate and a minimum

The number of web sites that store plain text password is huge. But I'm still not sure if this is a violation of GDPR or any other law.

@Matter Yeah as I thought, article 32 doesn't explicitely talk about tech details such as password encryption but tells you gotta do what you gotta do to make it secure (basically)

@Matter A lawyer says in this case I should just tell the web site first and that's what I did. The web site sends plain text password via email (registration confirmation and password reset), no mandatory change password prompt at the 1st login, plain text password field in the profile page where you can also change it. They told me it's fine because I can access the page with my password. Face palm.

Pro tip: instead of removing master/slave from the IT jargon, why don't we all be very loud when we see all kinds of discrimination.

@spacekookie @TimSueberkrueb @sir The problem is not getting your stuff packaged by a distro. The problem is lack of an ABI on Linux. Windows, macOS and Android all solved the problem. Flatpak solved it too. As an app developer I want users to enjoy my work immediately and an all distros. Without worrying about dependencies and distro release cycles.

@sir @spacekookie @TimSueberkrueb So you want a gatekeeper that verifies what gets packaged for you? Then don't install random flatpaks rather install only what comes from Flathub

@spacekookie @sir @TimSueberkrueb Flathub is not a place where you put random programs in like AUR. There is at least a review before an app gets in. You guys are confusing tech problems with policies. I can install random PPAs or packages just like with Flatpak. Heck Fedora made a Flatpak runtime and apps, maintained by them. There you go. Flatpak and Snap all solve problems that packages can't and they don't prevent trust by design.

@sir @spacekookie @TimSueberkrueb Dude you can do the exact same bullshit with regular packages. You are blaming tech instead of blaming bad policies.

@sir i really don't understand how come banks don't use hardware keys. there were some scams where people forged IDs of the victim, got a new sim card and use it to steal home banking credentials.
