@kzimmermann Yes but resources are scant, my recommendation would be to read good code and try to imitate it. OpenBSD and musl seems a good places to start. At least that's where i'm starting. 😀​

@NGIZero Hi would you consider funding, some disability/accessibility software dev work. I've got a prototype of a reading aide for dyslexic/verbal cognitive disorder/print disabled users in general. Problem is prototype is 10 years old now and would need to target Windows to have the most impact. So the code needs to be updated/ported to C# and other stuffAnd living with a disability myself i've got no extra money to spend on a new docking station for the Windows machine and about a dozen other things i'd need to make this real. I know you guys usually do internet/privacy stuff but is your mission general enough to support this sort of thing.

@kzimmermann I hope you'll like it. OpenBSD is a really neat OS that doesn't get nearly the exposure it deserves half my servers run it and i wish the other half did as well

Hey Fediverse: I am a `developmentally disabled/physically disabled` adult, who is looking to hire a part time assistant. To help me run errands, clean/cook and stuff. And if your computer savy i have a pile of abandoned projects that need attention. I live in upstate NY. Syracuse area. No prior experience with working with the disabled community is required, but it is helpful in some situations. What is required is a positive attitude toward Neurominoriies. A drivers license, and a willingness to undergo fire safety and abuse prevention training before starting.Pay starts at $17/hr but varies quite a bit DOE.. hours start at 15/hrs a week, but will be going up to 20 sometime in the next six months or so. Need $75 for electricity and stuff. I got covid near the end of the month on the 20th and have had to spend large amounts on grocery delivery services and such. Hey #newhere people. Welcome one and all. Here's a bit of a tip You might see some of us refer to this place as Fedi or the Fediverse. This is because this network is more than just Mastodon. It's also pixelfed, peertube, writefreely, bookwyrm. and too many others to mentiom and those are just the spaces which are immedatly adjacent e.g on the ActivityPub network. There's also the Hypergrid for all the metaverse fans, Tildeverse and pubnixes, Geminispace. And that's just the new stuff IRC is still alive and kicking as are listservs and forums. The open internet is alive and well, and it's powered by all of us. So I urge you to travel around a bit find things you like. Don't just stay on Mastodon island.Have fun

I love cooking but it's really physically hard work.. For me with my disability Food's been done and plated for 15 minutes and i'm over here on the couch about to dose off. guess that's why microwaves were invented

I know the common wisdom is one shouldn't use it in 202X. But let's say for a moment i had to because mail software still seems to like it. Is there a current best practice document. My current key dates from 2015 and is RSA 2048. I assume now i want RSA 4096 or ECC? Is there a reasonable guide. That is up to date#askfedi
