@lardmotel I have just seen that Bluesky has donated $800 to the SkyBridge (Mastodon–Bluesky interoperability) project. $800 might not go far but it's a statement at least.I'm curious to know what you (as one user example!) disliked about checking BS as well as Mastodon. Is it because you did so on (I guess) a mobile, and therefore needed two apps? Or was it lack of engagement? (I find it much higher there). #deadHorse

@lardmotel I understand the appeal of Dawesome’s (with two Es) offerings but have you found that you are able to create sounds that are significantly different to the supplied presets?Madrona Labs’ GUIs are just too flat, too Ableton Live for my tastes.

@lardmotel Eventually, anyone who tries to upload to a music site anything that goes too far outside those “known styles” may expect lots of “confirm you are human” challenges, or rather “confirm this is the work of a human” or “confirm this is fit for human consumption”!Most people will continue to dismiss novel music as random noises and now technology can do that for them.

@lardmotel The first “public beta” version of Zebra3 was released yesterday.https://u-he.com/news/#zebra3-newsAs with its predecessors, Zebra3 produces clear, clean sounds. From the little that I have heard so far, Absynth continues to have that murky sort of washed-out sound that many “must have” synth plug-ins have. Turn up that reverb. Yet people rave about it and those other plug-ins, so I suppose it is a matter of taste.

@lardmotel A few selected reactions follow. (1) If you don’t like it, why publicise it? (Ah, but on Mastodon so no-one will see it, OK. 😉) (2) I take it to be a “service” for the tiny minority that would otherwise just rip from Spotify? Actually no, this is probably just about the joy of hoarding and anarchy. (3) Maybe the project is “preserving” against Spotify disappearing but more likely the “opportunity” was what caused salivation. (4) I guess it’s ultimately of little practical consequence.
