       My poor wife argued with an old friend that suggested she write a university application using ChatGPT. She thought that was a terrible idea - for all the obvious reasons. You really provide a sample of your writing from a Slop Machine?His argument was like one you have with a religious person. The moment you allow that God exists then ✨magic✨They win. Same with Slop - the moment you allow that AI exists - game over! Maybe machine learning - but never ‘AI’. No such thing.#slop #ai

       @lardmotel • Machine Learning is a field within AI.• “No such thing”—clearly there is Weak AI, just not Strong AI, and I hope that no informed person is claiming otherwise.• I hope you like the bullet points and em-dashes. It took me a long time to get the hang of using em-dashes, so I am not going to let LLM AIs monopolise them.

       @phantomcircuit note the inverted commas on ‘AI’. In the context of the bullying she endured I’m not going to work through the difference between the study of artificial intelligence which admits issues and the popular conception of ‘AI’ which ignores them … any more than fall into a circular debate with a priest. Once magic is allowed it’s over.
