@lewiscowles1986 @aral Aral has not had success from EU funding, other projects have. Much like Aral other Human Rights focused projects haven't achieved funding.But there's a European FOSS ecosystem and we need help. The software we write and design can help or harm others. So it needs to be transparent, the code needs to be open and we try to design with those rights and freedoms from the beginning.It's why I'm really concerned by the OSI diluting those ideas with the Open AI definition. The training sets need to be accessible to everyone. You can't have an idea of why Open AI makes a decision, summarises a thing, recommends an action without those sets.#OSI

I've had concerns for a while about the direction the #OSI has been going with AI for a while. The publishing of the #OSAID weakens the #OpenSourceDefinition.I'm not a member but the definition does require community participation in terms of the licences we choose and how we advocate for Open Source.The recent board elections showed a disturbing pattern of obfuscation. We need to be able to trust Organisations that are meant to safeguard what Open source is.

It's surprising that the #OSI decided to obfuscate the election results and handwaved it as "oh it's STV you dont understand it".Some of us participate in votes that have STV. Sometimes I get asked if multicast would improve *application*My answer always is: The issue is that we don't design with group communication in mind, or with the fundamental difference of multicast compared to unicast in mind.Multicast for one thing is pull not push.You subscribe to a multicast group.When you design a truly multicast application the difference is clear. Even when it's something small like an IoT updater.Designing for a non centralised purpose is also good.

I'm still of the opinion that we need an organisational fork of Mozilla, preferably not domiciled in the US. We have technical forks like librewolf, that's not what I'm asking for. I'm asking for new stewards of the upstream code. Although perhaps if the forks want to consider how they'd become a hard fork, with an organisational structure that would work too.Mozilla is a product of it's surroundings. As a cis woman I've been misgendered at a distance for having short hair and wearing a hoodie by two older cis women. That's all it takes, a glance.No one should be policing the toilets or common areas, because of how they dress. This makes me feel unsafe.Trans women and Trans men have never made me feel unsafe.
