@penguin42 Some languages define their own text objects as well and you can add your own if you routinely work with constructs that you want to treat as objects.Hope that makes sense!

@penguin42 I use it quite a lot with vi*, which visually selects all of the text inside the given text object so I can check I've got it right before I act.

@amerika fair point. Have not seen a post of that nature in the last few days of Mass Migration though. Also, would be good to keep the arguments abstracted as that particular site ( and that particular bell-end) are really a symptom to discuss, not a cause

You are allowed to post any content you like on Mastodon without a CW.I am not condoning it. You may find that you'll be widely blocked if you choose not to use them. You will find some instances will boot you off for misuse. But it is a choice and not the concrete rule that some new folks may be thinking it is.As in real life, you are entirely free to be a dick, but no-one else is under any obligation to engage with you if you are.

Keyboard day has been less than stellar as I can't seem to get it into bootloader mode to tinker with it, and can't for the life of me get to other layers so some keys not available. Did try to sign up to Discord to ask questions there but had as email as soon as I signed up to say that my account had been suspended.I think it is very close to being beer o' clock.

I am going to take an extended break from here for a while. Great that things here are blossoming, but I'm afraid it's not being that kind on my mental health as it's all reminding me of past online issues. May be back at some point, but I think my online anxiety may mean that my time here is done.
