Wife's laptop is kaput. Wonder how well it'll run Linux 😈 This brand-new Latitude 7300 with 16gb of RAM, Core i7, etc. Took 3 hours to install Windows 10 1909.I installed a Kernel update in a matter of minutes (the reboot took the longest).I still can't convince my wife to use Linux, even though I was able to provide her with a working Citrix (ugh, yes) connection so she could work while I tried to recover her laptop....

So, in installing the OEM image on this 7300 I’m testing for work, I’ve noticed that even Windows 10 professional comes with advertising installed. Things like candy crush or Netflix and other decidedly un-businessy apps are still around when this image should be being used for people with day jobs, and shouldn’t be messing with those things. Why would anyone use this crap?

Figured out why I was still getting CSP reports..Turns out people were visiting www.degruchy.org instead of the proper bare domain, degruchy.org. CSP doesn't equate the two by default.🤦♂️

@nebunez I haven't removed anything, but there seems to be progress on that front:https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?tag=py2removal;users=debian-python@lists.debian.orghttps://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?tag=py2leaf;users=debian-python@lists.debian.org

@nebunez If I try to `apt remove --purge --autoremove python`I will end up removing Calibre ( 😞 ), texlive ( 😢 ) and trash-cli ( 😭 ). I'm sure I could replace some of those, though.

@Gina Have you applied to 100s of sites all using the same candidate management software on different domains, and yet have to sign up for each on individually?Ha... ha ha... hahahaha! 🤪 Job hunting sucks. I wish you the best of luck!

@Gina I made a spreadsheet last time. Organizing and correlating made me feel like I had some semblance of control in my life. It was pretty hellish toward the end.

@Gina Since I had a lot of time on my hands, I was crafting custom cover letters, adjusting layout of the items on my resume, making text only forms of my resume, making spreadsheets of who I contacted, for what, at what time, if I had a call back, if I had an interview and more. I practiced responses and questions for the interviewer. I reviewed company information and tried to research anybody I was interviewing for anything I could use to discuss with them. It was pretty comprehensive.

Trying out #emacs auto-complete and yasnippet. Not sure about how much I'll like it, but it has to be easier than looking up common function arguments every damn time.

By 2030, I'll probably have installed the LSP packages.I don't know why, but in this aspect, I'm really resistant to change.

@emacsen Is this a problem in git? I mean, it’d be nice to customize, and it looks like you can, but not something people really worry about.

@emacsen in what way? It signifies that this branch is the default or “master” branch that should be coded against. I don’t think it has any slavery connotations, nor do I think we need to inspect every last string and tear out words that might, in specific contexts, be construed as being related to slavery.

I think I'm done with social media. I think I'm done with the overreaction, sensitivity and generalities pushed around by groupthink.
