@redstarfish Why does guix have qtwebengine but parabola doesn't?Also they do have chromium too. But with Debian patches I think for the licenses that are missing.

@redstarfish Yeah now I remembered I asked you again..Guix says this about chromium:https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/help-guix/2019-04/msg00225.htmlInteresting perspectives for sure. I also disagree with Parabola about rust. In the specific that its not free because rust doesn't allow forking and then using the same name.

@jrballesteros05 @chaitanya I don't know if it can scale that much currently. It has been tested up to 10 or something participants. I would love for Jami to become a conference tool someday.

@jrballesteros05 @chaitanya Yeah. Maybe test it first. They so have some process for organizations now with jams. I have my doubts about scaling to 500 at this time though. I do believe that Jami is the future though. I am using it exclusively as my messaging up everyday.

Is there actually an #xmpp application that is pure p2p? Its one of my main problems with some of the apps I tried in android.

@hund a peer to peer one like briar or Jami is. I have always seen a #xmpp client needing a server.

@hund I would much prefer something distributed. Decentralized still gives power to the server Admins. Someone told me that #xmpp has a peer to peer specification when I mentioned that matrix works on that. I was interested to know if it true.

@hund I don't want to centralize it. Peer to peer is more decentralized than decentralised. Its literally server less. Its better because not everybody can run their own server.I haven't seen a peer to peer client though. That's a same

@robby @hund This image explains distributed. Mastodon is decentralized. Jami is distributed.I was asking if #xmpp can be distributed instead of decentralized.

@hund @robby No worries. I think for private messaging there are better solutions. I like peer to peer tech better. :ac_bewildered: For groups I am not so sure though.

@murtezayesil @mike @kev @Gina True. But in mastodon or Lemmy (which is the reddit of fediverse) you can choose your community. Reddit is everybody together. Plus reddit is closed source and ad/data driven.
