Are there any #Zoom alternatives for conducting #webinars for up to 500 participants?

@chaitanya I think Jami, or as @msavoritias said Jitsi. Jami is distributed so in depends completely on the hosting and/or bandwidth https://jami.net/free-as-in-freedom/

@jrballesteros05 @chaitanya I don't know if it can scale that much currently. It has been tested up to 10 or something participants. I would love for Jami to become a conference tool someday.

@msavoritias @chaitanya This is from jami's webpage:"Because Jami doesn’t rely on servers, the conference is hosted by the device of the person who initiates it. It mixes the audio and video feed from all participant and sends it back to them so everyone can see and hear each other. For this reason, the maximum number of participants depends on the hosting device’s computing power and available bandwidth".They tested until 16 members but in theory it scales.

@jrballesteros05 @chaitanya Yeah. Maybe test it first. They so have some process for organizations now with jams. I have my doubts about scaling to 500 at this time though. I do believe that Jami is the future though. I am using it exclusively as my messaging up everyday.

@msavoritias @chaitanya I have a jami account but I don't have friends to use it 😂. I really want Matrix, Jami and all FOSS alternatives to succeed. I found out that in android those apps will be killed. I had problem with element and telegram foss. https://github.com/Telegram-FOSS-Team/Telegram-FOSS/blob/master/Notifications.mdThat would be a problem to communicate with people in some phones.
