@BrodieOnLinux I like how one person just found 1 out of all the comments to reply with "I came here to comment this"

@shellkr @thelinuxEXP I think a lot of kernel forks would come out if that happened. And at least the reputable distros will likely remove harmful patches.

@BrodieOnLinux I'm surprised they allow ads to be that misleading. I would have thought they would have some sort of filter that flags, if not outright bans unicode domains with characters that look like english ones. Hopefully not too many people were affected.

@BrodieOnLinux @olivergrimm @thelinuxEXP That and even if you have unlimited data, audio only is a godsend on slow connections like when you're on mobile data. My cell service can get a bit too slow to pay videos during travel.

@BrodieOnLinux That title is kinda clickbait lol. I initially thought this would be a video on an article ranting about how linux went downhill.

@BrodieOnLinux Hopefully push to talk and other similar stuff actually starts working on wayland soon. Though it might be a while for things like discord since they like using older electron versions.

@BrodieOnLinux I wish more "normies" knew about this and pushed against it. It would also help if chromium forks and website devs push against it. Messaging like "this doesn't work in chrome try ... browser" would really put pressure on Google.

@BrodieOnLinux I think they have a purpose. It's putting a specific date to do something and that's what some people need to start. It doesn't work for everyone, but it does help some people.

@BrodieOnLinux For me the problem with electron is the fact developers don't bother updating the electron version even when vulnerabilities are publicly known. The chromium browser is a huge target for hackers given that nearly everyone uses a form of it, thus using an older form of it makes a hackers life easy. This isn't an electron issue, but I think is born from from how easy electron is to use. I think it makes devs focus more on features than the basics of the app.

@BrodieOnLinux I think it adds on a few requirements apart from just distributing Linux. These requirements likely are different depending on who ask, but for me it is a project that embraces as part of its identity.Like Ubuntu or Arch make Linux a core part it identity and brand themselves as a linux distro. Android and chrome os on the other hand merely use linux because it is as you said, "a really good kernel". Google has even talked about replacing it with the Fuschia kernel.

@BrodieOnLinux Worked fine for me on librewolf (firefox based). So it just might be a brave thing.

@BrodieOnLinux Instead of paying your developers to implement stuff properly, you go after open source projects that make it easy to circumvent your paywall. This is frankly a bit dumb to me. I understand wanting to put your stuff behind a paywall, but this is just ignoring the problem, not solving it.

@BrodieOnLinux I'm really interested in projects like silverblue but I doubt I could daily drive it for a decent length of time. I also like the idea of vanilla OS, but I'd likely run out of storage quickly with it. Of course there other cool distros as well and I agree we need more of them. I'm really excited to see what new stuff will come out. I feel like a huge tidal wave of improvements and new has been coming to linux in recent years and I'm glad to be a part of it.

@BrodieOnLinux I mean you're in Australia, I can imagine the time difference with a lot of your guests plays a huge role in that (could be wrong though). But also try and get more sleep if you can.

@BrodieOnLinux Honestly, I can't wait to try it out. It sounds really interesting. If they actually deliver on everything they promise, I probably would daily drive it.

@BrodieOnLinux I'm trying out a ublue image of fedora silver blue, so I mainly use flatpacks, then rpms in a rootless distrobox. This setup works pretty for me well since updates can be easily automated. That and I don't have to clutter up my main system with packages related to development.

@BrodieOnLinux Its a pretty interesting way to use Linux. It works incredibly well for what I need. I'd definitely recommend at least give it shot, though it might not be for everyone.

@BrodieOnLinux ipv6 is used where it needs to be used. It's just that ipv4 is the default when there is an option.

@BrodieOnLinux I think the correlation is mostly because more swearing means more comments in general. That and since they specifically targeted smaller repos, it's possible some of those may not have had comments at all. Just my guess though

@BrodieOnLinux If more people start deprecating xorg, then hopefully those proprietary apps will start caring more about xdg portals, even if their app itself runs in xwayland
