@mgrondin I see your superstition and raise you a real conditioned behavior. When I've played the organ here, I have to tap the head phone plug on the casing of my Audient first, then plug it in. If I plug it in right away, a spike consistently hits on the USB, causing jackd to start consuming 100% of CPU, causing XRUNS and choking audio on my system. I then have to close qjackctl, SIGKILL the jackd process and restart the soundcard.

podcast: download the audio file when the rss pingsscamcast: - circumvents RSS- requires app- requires agreeing to terms - requires agreeing to 3d party terms(!)- requires making an account- embedded audio stream- allows quiet post-redaction- platform runs intricate surveillance scripts - monitors you for valuable data- poorly "anonymizes"- sells data to highest bidder- negligent leaking of user data- calling the scripts cookies- asking audience to agree ("support us by..")

@jrballesteros05 I don't think it's wise to claim nuclear energy is safe like the meme does. The waste isn't safe, and that's over a long time frame too. I also don't think there's science to support that claim. What I could agree on is what @surendrajat also rephrases it into, by adding the word "relatively", meaning it may well be superior to our current use of fossil fuels, which no one can claim is safe.

@kzimmermann I'm worried that it will work. People will want their product. And because it is going to be a streaming VR experience, it can not be pirated. Only available to those wearing their ZuckerHelmets. I fear artists will create something beautiful there and people will not be able to say no to it. And Zuckerberg knows this, this news means he's already leveraging this desire. Artists should pay attention and see their work is abused to promote an ill and illegal business model.

@ericbuijs That's some nice looking bash. I tested it. It works, but it picked "SIDLE" and "DAWES" here and I'm not amused. ;)

@joel I'm not sure where to dig up dirt on this person. Also it wasn't my claim. But because I'm a reasonable person I have searched for "pale moon threatening the community" and found nothing. If you tarnish a person, questioning their integrity, I think it's fair to back that up with arguments instead of drive-by accusations. More importantly, they are bound to face some anonymous harassment from the ad tech industry, which makes me want to listen to both sides.@hund

Or; 8 million globally in 2018. And I don't think that number is going down any time soon. If we talk about nuclear energy, we cannot afford to forget this insane death count.

@publius It's one of the many conundrums in the energy crisis. I don't claim to know a fix for that. My point is more; please include this important point in the discussion. At some point, I believe fossil fuels were a reasonable choice. At some later point we will have to admit they have become an unreasonable choice, by measure of their rapidly increasing human death toll, its effect on the rest of our ecosystems notwithstanding.@gemlog

@kev All analyses about humor aside, you did @ them in your toot and they seem not to like the joke and they don't have to. Was that @ a typo perhaps? It may explain why this person thinks it's about them, if you specifically address them.@greenpete @xpil

I don't think @greenpete left Fosstodon because of a misogynist meme that @xpil posted. I think they left because of what happened after they addressed it. They were insulted instead of being listened to. In my opinion @kev could have apologized for the insulting part and they would not have left. Can and does Fosstodon want to get a better handle on future conflicts of this nature?

@pavot While I understand your position, I think in this case it should be public.Greenpete challenged a meme that, on Intl. women's day, perpetuated the "women belong in the kitchen" stereotype. In my view that meme was trying to incite drama, more than him for challenging it respectfully. The reactions were disproportionate and way too hostile. After they left, the public insults were quietly deleted. That's why I chose to publicly address this, as it already was public.
