@futurebird I’m in Adelaide South Australia and live near a large parkland. My friend finds dead rats, possums etc and drops them on some of the large ant nests then we watch them slowly stripped of all flesh to reveal a skeleton 💀 over a few weeks. Happy ants! Loving the ant posts, I did entomology at uni a million years ago

I reckon I'll move services first then think about hardware. my phone and laptop I can probably squeeze another year out of, so that will give me time to see how plausible a migration to linux and ... graphene os(?) would be

@lardmotel my wife is a graphic designer and I think Adobe is now charging $80 a month for creative suite. That’s the basic plan. Plus you now have to buy a subscription to Pantone colour swatches!!

@neil I’ve thought about this too. For me LinkedIn links up companies and people and has a way to keep in contact who I’ve worked with. It also brings in your timeline of jobs, when you worked with people, skills, projects, certifications. It also is separate from other social media. It has a jobs function so you post if you’re hiring. There’s lots there that would require different data structures and UI changes but I think a base platform like Friendica might be a start. #fediverse

Only just found out about Funkwhale the Fediverse enabled audio hosting platform @funkwhale - looks like a great way to host some audio archives I have from my time on community radio.Had a look at https://funkwhale.fediverse.observer/list and couldn't find an Australian instance, would @PostersUnionAU be interested in hosting or giving me some sort of resourcing to host? #fediverse

@andyjennings @lardmotel my name I use to order some things is different to the name registered with Australia post - its a common abbreviation but no they can’t cope with that so I have to pick it up from the post office and show identity
