@stux Me too. I used to get quite a lot of people ringing up pretending to be my broadband supplier and informing me that "something was wrong with my Internet" - which of course it wasn't; they just wanted to get into my computer.I finally got so fed up with them that I asked them, "Does your mother know what you're doing for a living?"Strangely enough, I didn't hear from them again after that...

It's all very well trying to sell me vegan creme eggs... but I was never that keen on the originals. I mean, the idea's good, but there's such a thing as too much sugar in one place.

@stux I bought a mobile phone on a pay-as-you-go plan (which I always do, because I don't use it much) and they tried to sell me insurance. I declined.When they asked why, I explained that the cost of the insurance would equal the cost of the phone in two years, so as long as the phone didn't break down over the next two years I'd be ahead. They seemed a bit taken aback that I'd worked that out, but honestly, it was just logic.

@Tilopa I've seen guns precisely once. There were armed police officers on one occasion in my local shopping mall in Sheffield. My natural reaction was to freak out and get the heck out of there; they don't send armed police unless there's someone really dangerous.

This is Windermere, taken from my parents' car almost exactly seven years ago. At that point I'd had a couple of unexplained falls but had no idea that my balance was starting to go; and I certainly didn't know that less than two months later I'd be fighting for my life in hospital.I enjoyed that trip. I might not have enjoyed it quite so much if I'd known it was the last time I was going to be able to get out into the Lakes. Sometimes it's good not to know.

@Tilopa He'd have to go to one of his own institutions, then. I've been mentally ill a few times, but I'm pretty sure I've never been as mentally ill as Trump is at the moment. Except maybe when I was in hospital recovering from full-body sepsis and out of my tree on whatever they were giving me to fight it.

Right. So it turns out that my mum's chocolates were delivered today, pretty much exactly a quarter of an hour ago. I paid extra for them to arrive on Monday. And I haven't had an answer to my annoyed e-mail yet.I had better get a refund for the money I paid for named-day delivery, or I am going to be recommending you all not to use this company.
