Haha we really should cancel our TV subscription, how can people live with sooo many ADS :ad: We pay already for TV so I don't need ads for 50% of the time wtf!I understand there wasn't much of an alternative in the past but now we have! It's like cashing for a subscription and sending you ads while confirming the subscriptionThanks but no thanks! :fuck_face: 📺

@stux and it's not just ads in blocks, they do commercials as the program goes and shrink the display (sports channels are the worst)

@stux welcome to the club; off TV for over a decade now. Can't stand the ads nor the shouty news anchors here. I only watch things where I can pay to not have ads, or i don't watch. My attention is worth a lot to me to squander on all that :)

@stux I just got a delivery from my standard hardware chain for screws and other things. In the box was five flyers for other company's products. Things like chocolate and wine. WTF? So now they think they are Amazon or some other shitty company making money from distributing advertising flyers. I wonder which executive came up with that shitty idea.Ads SUCK!

@stux I have the feeling that the Internet is also slowly developing to that..There are more and more streaming providers and services in general where you pay for the access and then still get ads...Netflix, Amazon and Twitter for example.

@stuxEntirely agree.Adverts drive me mad.I either record my programs and skip the ads or pause live TV for about 15mins and skip through the ads (while swearing loudly) 😁

@stux We still watch DVDs/bluray discs here. All the trailers are easy to skip and we dont need to rely on the internet, particularly on the shoddy wireless box.

@stux I haven't even owned a TV for over 10 years now, and I ain't dead yet. And even without the ads, it's a mostly BS form entertainment anyway, designed to give you fear and worrying so you can be colluded into buying stuff even without explicit ad time.

@stanford @stux The difference is you get ads but your subscription is cheaper for those services. Where I live you pay for the tv and watch 15 minute ads between things. Oh and you can always install ublock origin and change your dns to block ads as well
