@Nonilex This is a great idea. Local #resistance is essential, especially by elected representatives with the power. I’m really pleased to see proactive thinking and action in #Portland and elsewhere. This policy in particular should spread to every locality when #ICE is in town.

@realcaseyrollins @mcnado It might beva tough call, legal-wise. Best to ask for your lawyer before answering. Definitely no cooperation without a warrant. Ethically, I would personally slow-walk or refuse to answer. You never have to answer a police question . Oh, they’re not police? Then you still don’t have to answer. 4th Amendment still applies, I hope.

@realcaseyrollins @mcnado There are certainly mixed opinions out there, even among experts. ICE are not given police powers, and only police can arrest you. They CAN detain you if they are investigating a crime. Frankly, I do not believe this dilemma will be resolved in court. Civil disobedience on a massive scale is required. That’s why it is important for individuals to spread the word about their encounters with ICE. There is some safety in groups.

Somehow you need to convey that the symbol “represents” a concept, it is itself not the concept. The symbol alone carries no meaning except that which we agree to assign it.
