@BrodieOnLinux #openSUSE maintainer of Python speaking: no, Python 2.* is not default Python on #Tumbleweed, because there is no such as thing as default #Python. In accordance with https://peps.python.org/pep-0394/ we DON’T create a symlink from `/usr/bin/python3` to `/usr/bin/python`. If you create it, you are on your own to keep all pieces together, and please make it to `/usr/local/bin/python` so as not confuse the rest of the system.

@BrodieOnLinux And yes, unfortunately, because of #GIMP we have not been able to remove Python 2.* from our distro yet (and PyGtk, but that’s a lesser problem).
