@kraft @liaizon@social.wake.st Have you considered, instead of sharing the blog post to mastodon, making the entire blog subscrible as part of the fediverse?Like a "Follow" and a "reblog" buttons instead of a "share" button.

#Bluesky is still on an invite-only basis and is ALREADY at risk of bad actors. They’re going to face similar problems as early #fediverse and they NEED a strong moderation solution before they open up sign up or start federating.#bsky #moderation #fediblock

Question for people who are pro #fediblock Meta. Do you want to block Tumblr and wordpress too because they’re also closed source and corporate? Or just Meta?

@rysiek@mstdn.social @jeff@honeytree.social Careful before blocking newsie(dot)social! They’re also hosting Doctors without borders. It is absolutely essential that Doctors without borders stay available to the widest audience possible. They’re new both here and on bluesky and re-gaining their audience is already hard enough to not fediblock them on top of that.Whatever you decide to do, please be sure to not harm their work.

That’s pretty cool. The Star Trek community did the extra mile to join the Federation. Not only did they join the protest on #reddit they also created an entire #lemmy instance and redirected their users toward it.#migration #blackout

@stux@mstdn.social Everyone is always about federate or defederate. What’s your opinion about limiting meta?Is secure fetch enabled on mstdn.social?

During cold-war (and still very much existing today) there was a direct hotline between Washington and Moscow.Everyone understands that the existence of this line is absolutely crucial. Nobody would call you a traitor for talking to Moscow. Actually people would call you absolutely crazy if you were to cut that line. Keep your friends close and your enemies even closer.Everyone also understand that every conversation over that line is TOP SECRET and probably strongly encrypted.Actually I cannot think of a single reason, a single context, a single universe where "never talk to your enemy" is a good idea. It’s a terrible advice in 100% of the cases. But somehow, talking with meta is bad, signing a NDA is bad and it’s somehow reason enough to move your account from some instances, publicly-shame some admins and defederate from them????Can someone explain the reasoning like I’m five? Do you want to let meta do everything they want without speaking your mind to them?#meta #barcelona #project92 #p92 #threads

@stevelord@bladerunner.social @stux@mstdn.social slicing up a tasty chunk of those meta billionsThis part make it sounds like admins are corrupt and accepting money from Meta when it was just a meeting, no one is buying the fediverse.I’m also not sure about the "clandestine" part. It’s not a secret that they met, only the content of the meeting is secret and under an NDA is like basic procedure for any meeting with a big corpo. Especially when you’re talking about an unreleased product. The basic fact are :* Meta invited a few big actors of the fediverse for a meetingMakes sense. They’re implementing a federation feature, make sense that they’d want the input of a few actors who already run federated social network.* Meta’s condition to the meeting is an NDAKinda sucks. Totally fair to refuse an NDA. But also normal procedure for a corpo, no need to shame people who did sign the NDA.* Some admins accepted the NDA some didn’t (and didn’t join the meeting)And the reactions from the most extreme people were like:* Accusing them of treasonFor simply being in a meeting call with some Meta representative.* Accusing them of selling-out the fediverse, their instances/users or accepting moneyThis is completely wild and based on nothing* Shaming them for signing an NDAInstead of shaming Meta for demanding one in the first place.* Shaming people who DIDN’T sign the NDA and DIDN’T meet, just because they were name-dropped in some threadAbsolutely wildAnd the dot art admins are not innocent in that libel and harassment campaign. Their messages are encouraging it and certainly not helping people to clear up misunderstandings.

@tchambers@indieweb.social I recommend @uanews@fed.celp.de It’s sadly a twitter mirror and not original content. But it’s a curated list of good accounts with good info.I don’t recommend you to follow them though, put them in a list to not spam your home feed.

@gme@bofh.social I think meta is a special case, they won’t care as much about micro.blog, flipboard, Tumblr, wordpress.com. (are they even aware that flipboard is indexing all their public posts?)

@franktaber@mas.to Licensing of posts should be part of the protocol IMO.Maybe not a support for all kinds of custom licenses, but at least "All rights reserved other than those needed to store and display this message" and all the creative commons.Just a little tag attached to the post CC-0, CC-BY, All right reserved, etc.

@MyLittleMetroid@sfba.social @rodhilton@mastodon.social EEE was specifically invented by Microsoft and used purposefully. It also was targeted toward closed source competition not just open source and finally it almost never worked against open source. Microsoft tried to kill Java, JS, the open web, office documents, etc. All of them are still here.EEE isn't exactly an easy strategy with a high rate of success. It's more like a convulated strategy that almost never work.
