       @bryan the product for those companies isn't the code, but the service. Having open code is a security benefit and offloads your own development costs when others contribute in that scenario.When the code itself is the product, then that's not the case. That's why server Linux is a huge industry and desktop Linux is a marginalized. Because companies can't actually exploit free software for profit in the same way.We should publicly invest in FOSS development to counteract that.

       You know, I kinda underestimated psychology. Shit's pretty interesting.Introspection is important. Being aware of your mind's own traps is helpful when trying to avoid them.It's also interesting to think about how a lot of the internet platforms we used have been created to take advantage of that knowledge for making $.There are literally billions of $ going into that shit just to get you addicted to online platforms as a service to manipulate consumption patterns.

       @kogumanomisha this is why we should take over the gov't and then fund and host open source as a public good.Because economy of scales means eventually everything will be a monopoly anyway so we might as well make it the one that's accountable to the public.
