@arh no other silo provider. Only Proton mail. I still have accessories accounts, just because I dislike putting all my eggs in one basket (also: recovery) and one single Gandi-provided email account.

@arh it's not my main email and to be honest so far it's been working pretty well.

@ray I can confirm, by going to your profile I've noticed two posts that I'd missed.

@Onmyom I disagree with your post "Just say no!".I get the reasoning and I see how that can be applied to many applications or even entire OSes + other pieces of technology. I've been using iA Writer since v1.0 and I don't see the author's complaints in the specific case.Besides the syntax suggestions feature, which I don't use and is easy to disable in the preferences, the only other change has been the introduction of wikilinks — a godsend for people like me.Also: https://manuelmoreale.com/great-software-is-timeless

@birch I see. I linked a rebuke of the post I was referring to, so you read my "counterpoint" :)Om's post is here: https://om.co/2023/02/14/just-say-no/There's a quote with a cite link that goes to a paywalled post, so I didn't read the original in full. @Onmyom

@birch I don't use neither Dropbox nor iCloud, so I wish they could implement another form of syncronization too. Though, I really don't care much since I started using Syncthing. However, iA Writer's idiotic move on Android to disallow edits directly in the filesystem prevents me from using the sync'd files properly. Hence why on Android (and only there) I've been using Obsidian. It's weird how I can't stand Obsidian on desktop but works well on my Android phone. We have choices!@Onmyom

@ray I don't really like it. I only use it on Android because my editor of choice, iA Writer, decided to disallow direct editing in the filesystem. I only use Obsidian on Android to check and edit my TODO file, which is synced from the Mac using Syncthing.

Today is #BandcampFriday. However, even if I have music on there, I want to give instead of asking. Here are 10 codes to redeem my concept album "After 1989" for free.Listen to the songs before redeeming, so if they're not your cup of tea leave the codes to someone else :)If you still want to help, leave a review if you like it!fh5d-e5wpbfhm-baawwwcf-x7rssjjx-eehlsfbh-u3peswds-ex73jvlc-brdp7fpe-w4x2vdff-caacfjal-w23whttps://minutestomidnight.bandcamp.com/yumCheers#IndieMusic #MusicProduction

@HyolobrikaIn a nutshell: the freedom comes from the fact that my grandfather escaped from the concentration camp a few days before the Soviets storm into Berlin, and managed to come home by foot, crossing the entirety of Europe, from Germany to Italy. The metaphor extends to how I lived the Cold War: trapped in propaganda and ideology and freed from both when it ended, which is when I could start retracing his personal story.A full account can be found here:https://minutestomidnight.co.uk/blog/after-1989-full-story/

This might be the most important blog post I ever wrote. It's been a while since I wanted to publish some sort of personal manifesto on my site. After I stopped promoting myself as if I were a brand, I needed to put my foot down and declare what I stand for, on the only place that's not going away: my personal website. So, here it is. A personal manifesto, where I touch on these topics: #MentalHealth #Sustainability #Technology #SmallWeb #IndieWeb #SocialMediahttps://minutestomidnight.co.uk/blog/personal-manifesto/

Dug into a Wayback Machine snapshot of the old web agency @silviamaggi and I co-founded in London with Neil Palmer. Found this gem from 2012:#WebDesign #WebPerformance

@adxlv I thought so too, until I randomly touched that bottom nav bar and realised it scrolls horizontally to reveal all the other icons. Also, weirdly enough, the order of those icons on mobile is different. I have "Lists" as a 4th element, while it's usually the last one. In fact, I never use Lists, so it feels even more odd.@tchambers @rolle

@rolle I've been using the PWA (with Vivaldi) on Android for a long while. Since I hate how small Mastodon looks on my phone, I managed to increased the zoom before creating my PWA. I have no idea if my current zoom is responsible for the fact that I'm only seeing 4 icons: Home / Search / Notifications / ListsI'd love if the theme was optional. I often customise websites through the Stylus extension, however, default Mastodon looks good to me (besides the font size).@adxlv @tchambers

@tchambers @rolle @stux @adxlv genuine question: why the need for changing the UI? Which issue are we trying to solve with a different theme? I'm an advanced user, yet I find this theme not that usable, I keep missing the reply box when I try to respond to people, there are no borders, it breaks muscular memory. I recognise that I might be in the minority to have scrollbars visible at all times, but that emoji icon overlay gets hit every time I try to scroll the posting window.

@rolle I'm not against your design per se, and I appreciate the open source ethos of the project. I just don't see the need. Granted, I don't have my own instance so it depends on my admin. I'm not entirely sure if a poll is the correct answer, but I see why it's been tested this way.I'm not protesting, I simply don't see the need to change something that's working, to resemble something (Twitter) that never worked for me and many other that chose Mastodon.@tchambers @stux @adxlv
