@freemo Maybe so, but it seems a bit far-fetched to me, especially what with their pushing so much funding to Ukraine as well.If the Democrats are under the thumb of anyone, current evidence would seem to point to Israel, for whom they've shown far more deference.

@feditips It's not the admins that are stuck in the past. It's Eugen. We have to edit the code and recompile to increase the character limit, which is crazy. If it were just a simple config setting, nearly everyone would have it increased.

@bonifartius @freemo That's not quite true. Congress passed the Foreign Assistance Act in 1961 that mandated such an agency be created. That requirement of Congressional law was implemented by executive order.So, in theory, the President could maybe shut it down to reorganize it into a new agency, but he absolutely cannot unilaterally shut down contracts for which Congress has appropriated funding.

@freemo Most of what you're describing happened before half the electorate graduated from high school, so I kind of doubt it was a major factor.But, yeah, I think a lot of the reason why he was considered a moderate was because he had mostly extremely mainline liberal views but "moderated" them with a few extreme right-wing views.
