the nice thing about LaTeX is that sometimes you try to figure out why your font isn't the right size and end up reading documentation from a time when MS-DOS was extremely relevant

This is a one-vacuum-tube ADC from...1948!The way it works is so damn clever: it's set up with an electron gun and horizontal/vertical "deflexion" plates just like a CRT TV. The beam is swept horizontally at a fixed rate.The vertical deflection is set based on the input signal. Instead of a phosphor screen, there's a metal plate with slots cut in it following a truth-table-like layout. Whenever the beam goes through one of the slots, it hits a collector plate and a high bit is sent out!

statistics question: is it harder to conclude that a ball is or isn't red or to conclude what color it is?I'll even allow that there's a finite set of colors to pick from and clear definitions of what "colors" are
