Wait, did you do that (ie you are on a instance were users choose) or are you on an instance where the admins choose? Can't be both :/

In the PhD dissertation case, maybe a thread-to-latex tool would be even better? But of course the implementing the output format is probably the most trivial part !@TerryHancock@humanetech @Seirdy @eylul @apps @bob @forgefriends @RyunoKi

Yes, all three of them (including the one that got through). One of those who didn't was posted by a user on a different instance. I'm noticing now that the two comments in question have in common that they carry hashtags, maybe that plays a role?

Hashtags seem to be the problem, at least that's what comes out from very simple tests I just ran :Liwott2022-04-25 21:30:38This looks like pointless simple commenting, but the reason was very simple :- tests 2, 3 and 6 were delivered to lemmy.ml instantaneously- test 1, 4 and 5 are still underway, seemingly because - 1 contains a hashtag - 4 contained one, and editing it out didn't help - 5 is a reply to 4Hashtag seems to be the culprit@heluechtcc : @dessalines @nutomic

@faberfedor @tilvidsIt is kind of a FOSS Youtube, where peer-to-peer helps for the downloading, and which can in theory share a pool of videos with similar FOSS kind of Youtubes. It is also part of the Fediverse, which means that you can interact with it ( (dis)like, comment, subscribe) directly from Mastodon instead of having to create an account there. In particular, if you subscribe to a channel, new videos will appears as toots in your Mastodon timeline.

@faberfedor @tilvidsSo maybe a bit of precision.Peertube is a video platform, just like Mastodon is a microblogging platform. tilvids.com is a Peertube instance, just like mastodon.social is a Mastodon instance. So, when I previously said "a kind of FOSS YouTube", I really meant a PeertubeHowever, you were not that wrong in that TILvids is a instance that specializes in a type of videos, namely edutainement.

@tilvidsThank you for curating that nice instance ! I recently said in my intro that it's one of the main things that got me hooked to the #Fediverse, and so I hope that sharing it will get more people hooked !You'll still get the occasional rant about the lack of a mention to TILvids on the creators' #YouTube page though 😁

@dansup @pixelfed @jason123santafediverse.party has a lot more dataIn this regard, isn't there a way to just take the data from there? In other words, aren't there public databases of fediverse apps and clients that can just be shared between such sites? Like database version of the fediverse-related delightful lists.cc @humanetech

@futureisfoss @tio @heluecht @appsNote that I also cannot log in in here whereThis is Friendica, version 2022.05-rc that is running at the web location https://nerdica.net.A couple of versions ago the app would crash when selecting nerdica.net as an instance, now (at least since v14) it just stays blocked on that first page instead of opening nerdica's login page

My reason to switch to it from Mastodon is that it is more adapted to interact with Peertube and Lemmy (both because of its layout and features). I gave a bit more details on this in my introduction. Compatibility with Diaspora is a nice plus.

@colinsmatt11 @strypeybut the AP network software only partially interact with other software on the same network.Right, but they do interact. I have never seen anyone defining the fediverse as a network where every single custom action of a given software is understood by the others.Of course, it would be better in the future if they understand that there was an action, even if they don't interpret it.The important thing is that you can follow and comment what happens on other software. You still can't comment on WriteFreely posts from other software.I don't know about that, so maybe it is not yet appropriate to call it part of the fediverse yet. One-way subscription is not enough imo, otherwise you would say RSS is part of the fediverse as you can follow them from Friendica. Although it might be different as I do not know whether it recognizes whem two accounts follow the same feed. You can't subscribe to a lemmyYou can. The interaction is not that seemless from Mastodon, but from Friendica

With all the new people arriving and doing things properly, I realised that I didn't, at least not on the #ActivityPub #Fediverse. I did write an #introduction first time I registered on a #diaspora pod in 2019. It was on mondiaspora.net, now down, and all I could find from it was the beginning of the french version, that I had crossposted to #Twitter. It goes like thisJe suis #nouveauici sur #mondiaspora.netJe suis belge d'origine italienne, un citoyen européen en somme ! Je suis étudiant en physique théorique. J'ai dédié une partie de ma vie au scoutisme et à la jonglerie. Après m'être émancipé des idées nationalis...which meansI'm #newhere on #mondiaspora.netI am Belgian of Italian origin, a European citizen in short! I am a theoretical physics student. I have dedicated part of my life to scouting and juggling. After emancipating myself from nationalist ideas...Oh ! I remember the end of that joke, I meant to say that after learning a language that I don't use to communicate, I was trying to emancipate myself from the #GAFAM by signing up to a social network where none of my social life stands. That was true, and so I stopped using diaspora before even finishing replying to the comments I got to that post.I registered as @Liwott on the #Mastodon instance #Framapiaf around the same time, and also dropped it around the same time. While I never actually came back to Mondiaspora, I did bounce on and off Framapiaf a couple of time, and noticed the increasing interconnectivity of the Fediverse. For example, in the summer 2020, I wrote a few comments to @G-Droid which I still think is a great functionality.I came back when there were more and more nice #Peertube videos, in particular with the appearance of @tilvids.In the meantime, I had registered as u/Liwott on #Reddit for the topical forums, and looking for FOSS alternatives, I ended up registering on #Lemmy as @Liwott.I had a good time there and was absolutely delighted when it started interacting with Mastodon. However, I soon noticed that Mastodon's functionalities (toot length limit, no downvotes, ignored quotes) and layout were not that appropriate to interact there, and that's when I decided to try out #Friendica. So I silently signed up here on #Nerdica, and I am very happy about that !Lemmy compatibility also improves much faster with Friendica than with Mastodon, so what else do you need.I am also a fan of lame transitions, so let me say that, more than an introduction, this sounds like a ridiculously long version of the zeroth slide of a talk, likeFirst of all let me thank the admin @ij and the various devs for giving me this wonderful opportunity to share about myselfUsually it's about my work, but towards the recent end of my PhD I decided I did not want to do that anymore.Although I am more of a #SouthPark fan, I am a family guy (did I mention my passion for lame #puns already?), so everyone who works in #research can feel me when I say that academia was not for me.Instead, I decided that I want to be #teaching in high school when I grow up, so the "I am a physics student" part of the aforementioned introduction is still technically true.I disseminated some in the text already, but let me finish in the same way that I finished the diaspora introduction, with the same string of hashtags : #belgium #italy #physics #scouting #juggling #esperanto
