@msh @dansup I don't think Eugen's intention was to provide a universal mastodon app, but one that is explicitly targeted for non-techies and beginners that first look for "Mastodon" in their stores. And by the way the app appears to be designed it feels to me that it is thought as a starting point to discover the fediverse. And since people only know big social networks, with simple concepts it is a sensible decision to fetch em with that experience, have em settle and then go deeper.

@msh @dansup Just remember his many people are unable to tell the difference between an app and the service behind it. People are really simple minded concerning technology and if the app is not intuitive and easy to use, they will condemn the whole thing.

@Gina I am not an expert in giving helpful advices but I think this is not a problem of knowing alternatives but rather a problem of really comprehending them. When you spend too much time in your deep dark hole you forget how the outer world looks like. My try of an advice is to take some time off. Not a day, not a week but at least two weeks and get some (mental) distance between you and the hole. Then you are able to reevaluate what's really important to you.

I just recently realised, that proprietary social networks are not social networks but entertainment networks. That's why at least my friends have a hard time switching to mastodon or pixelfed. People expect to be highly entertained the first second they enter the network and kept that way all the time. Being confronted with a network that is stripped from all these addictive tools is a massive cultural clash.

@kyle How easy was it to open your robot? I have a Vorwerk VR-200 and it is almost impossible to open it without breaking things.Best thing is, if I want to clean the ball bearing of the main brush I have to work myself all the way from top to bottom to reach it.

@DeveloperMemes This was actually screwed up on multiple occasions: 1/ someone had super user rights or root access who wasn't admin2/ someone worked on production files with super user rights or root access3/ someone ran "rm" inside a directory to delete all files instead of running it outside and pointing the the directory which is much safer4/ nobody thought about a single backup throughout the project.And I am only writing this because noone on reddit mentioned it.
