@ThomasWic Thank you Mr Wictor for this tip, I looked at Heavy Duty Country and have subscribed. Can so feel his anger and frustration. Regarding your earlier post, how do you think the MSM will get round the fact that they so misinterpreted what they assumed was happening. It would be nice to think they would have the grace to be bit embarrassed.

@Debradelai Gosh, I'm so envious! I always wish I could attend one of these events. I'm working on the 29th, as it happens, and will be thinking of you and with you in spirit. Have a wonderful time, all you who manage to get there.

@HunDriverWidow This was a really interesting article, apparently taken from the new book by Alex Marlow, the editor of Breitbart. Has anyone read? I get the feeling (after listening to Beard Blather) that Mr Montez Bradley has little time for Breitbart. How is one to know? I would like to buy it, but would I do better just to keep my money and send it to QV instead? (I would do both actually).

@Clayrjr So glad you are feeling a bit better, you sound as if you have been through the wringer this last year. It's horrible to feel the whole world is against you, easy to get into a downward spiral and something you might just have laughed off becomes massive. Also, love the word 'poon', will try to use that in a sentence today. Someone on here posts word of the day to improve our vocabularies - so useful.

@Clayrjr Agree, fascinating, took me ages to work out that Post Modernism is Cultural Marxism dressed up in poncey academic terminology. The mind-games that we have been subjected to in the last fifteen months, with Covid, and even prior to that, the last four years, make it obvious that we have been the objects of an experiment in deconstructionism. A very successful experiment I suppose.

@SpiceOfOurLife @TearGasBreakfast This is the lady who had a 'black militia' formed up, uniformed and marching, while she shouted through a megaphone. It's actually illegal to raise a private army in the UK, any one else would be arrested for doing that. After the shooting, social media was rife with the usual "right wing, white supremacist nut job" rhetoric, now the shooter is exposed as a 'person of colour', - silence!

@TomStark913 This is so beautiful, wish I could live there! Sometimes feel every day is such a battle, can you imagine, Conservative, Brexit, Trump supporter, work NHS (socialist), tried to talk to a friend this morning, never heard of Fauci, had that slightly pitying look, poor old Gill, she's a conspiracy theorist, so tired sometimes, just wish I could live among like-minded people and not always be the oddball. (but will not give up!).

@redwhitebluedude @Debradelai I fear such items are "retained" with quite depressing regularity and their "intelligent person" shows up in the A&E dept and has to come to operating theatres to have removed. Them and the bits of vacuum cleaner that the owner always claims they stumbled and fell upon, while vacuuming in the nude (like you do!).

@darulharb Near us on the outskirts of Cambridge is the Madingly American Cemetery, it is such a tranquil place, it has beautiful vistas of the flat fenland country, and manicured lawns, and white crosses. I always feel the same, all those poor lads!. Often there are American families there visiting their loved one and I always feel so grateful that we could at least provide somewhere so lovely, to show our acknowledgement, our appreciation, of the dept that can never really be repaid.

@redwhitebluedude What a brilliant picture, crumbs, where do you find these? I had no idea there was such a thing as the 'Doughboy Foundation', really, the things one learns on here!

@Clayrjr @Debbie742 @darulharb Feel very sorry for Americans when accused of provincialism, and point out that I have never been to the U.S. either, because of the distance, because of the expense, the whole airport experience is so horrible now that foreign travel has lost some of it's allure. That being said, when you sit and drink coffee and look across the road at the Colosseum, and think, Wow, that's actually the Colosseum? That makes it almost worth the hassle.

@Lonestar Blimey! Talk about a near death experience. Did all this happen fairly recently? The worst thing about being found dead would be being found soaked in wee (and other things). Thank Goodness you are okay, you should get a check-up really, you may have knocked your heart into an abnormal rhythm!

@JM @MadBeachBimbo I was similarly given a tiny aloe vera plant, and it really has taken, loads of baby ones around the base. I can't have it outside in our climate but it has overwintered in the conservatory and is romping away. I am always chuffed out of all proportion if something is an unexpected success, but that's the joy of gardening isn't it?

@stephanieanne @wziminer @JM What a horrible situation you have with your border. We have a similar problem here (on a smaller scale). 430 migrants crossed the Channel yesterday to land in the UK, all seemingly young men of military age, all with a smart phone, they are taken straight to a hotel, clothed and fed. How bad can life in the EU be? They all want to come to wicked, racist, colonialist Tory Britain! France is socialist. It should be Utopia, surely, for the poor and displaced.

@watch4thedrop Thanks awfully for this, I have observed the unfolding drama with trepidation, It's like watching friends fall out, I felt anxious and sad. Your sage words are a reminder that one can engage in a cogent argument in a trenchant fashion without resorting to childishness. Best wishes to all as ever, from the UK.

@HunDriverWidow A colleague of mine has this picture on the wall of his office, annotated with a quote attributed to Albert Einstein, "Nothing is infinite, except the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the universe".

@SpiceOfOurLife Love that there are fellow bat lovers! I am in a local group that puts up bat boxes and rescues bats. One of the most supreme pleasures of life is to sit in the Summer dusk by the lake and watch Daubenton's bats skimming over the water, taking the insects. I believe they are the only species to behave like this. Also, have you seen the Honduran White bat or Tent Making bat? Oh my, they must be some of the most delightful little things ever! Thank you for posting.

@Lisa22 @watch4thedrop @metalblonde1114 @alpineibex @Klang @Debradelai Just to say I have taken Vit D and zinc for ages, and all during Covid, have worked up close and personal with the pandemic for last 18 months (operating theatres and Intensive Care) with no hint of infection, not even a sniffle. I honestly don't understand why the Government doesn't do more to encourage the public to take more care of themselves in this way.

@Debradelai @TearGasBreakfast Loved the Egypt and Cypress threads and the reminder of the sheer age of things, also remember Rudyard Kipling, always prescient, said "Asia is not going to be civilised after the methods of the West, there is too much Asia, and she is too old"
