@taylorlorenz a) get lawyers. b) hey maybe call the NLRB, because firing people for expressing opinions about working conditions to their coworkers is in fact protected.

@lauren As I said elsewhere: he is quite competent in demonstrating his incompetence.

@lowqualityfacts That is a hard fact of life many people never come to grips with, so I applaud you for your wisdom.

Cached UK/IE Kindle giveaway: 5 copies of @scalzi's REDSHIRTS, which is a fun and *shockingly deep* parody. It is, btw, an excellent written companion piece to GalaxyQuest -- they both tackle a similar idea, but from vastly different approaches. I am not going to lie here: my favourite part of the book is the 3 codas, one of which is heart-rending, but in a good way. Also, I did not understand the ending, and someone had to point it out to me, and then I felt really dumb.

I know this book got all the puppies riled up, and that alone makes it a *great* book to read. But it's also funny, and SFnal. (I'm not sure if it should be classified as fantasy or science fiction. Of course, such distinctions are really meaningless. But it takes an idea, builds a weirdly-consistent world around it, and follows through on the ramifications.)

Anyway! As usual, feel free to grab a copy, or to let other people know about it, or both! Remember you need an amazon.co.uk kindle account.I actually bought 10 copies, but since the UK/IE giveaways are sometimes like putting teeth into a baby's mouth, I only do 5 at a time.https://amazon.co.uk/kindle/redeem/?t=GS52NWVAJV6MQNChttps://amazon.co.uk/kindle/redeem/?t=GSM55TV9ZKZ8D7Nhttps://amazon.co.uk/kindle/redeem/?t=GSZH798JJHRYVYYhttps://amazon.co.uk/kindle/redeem/?t=GSS2UUPVLB4WYCKhttps://amazon.co.uk/kindle/redeem/?t=GSS64MS4MG95W2E#KindleBookGiveaway

@fuck_cars_bot Airbags, crumple zone, more passengers (bigger passengers too!), rollover protection, much less physically painful to get in and out of.Oh, also, that newer Mini gets better fuel economy than the older one. (Not by a lot, but it is there.)

@fuck_cars_bot (I mean, don't get me wrong -- the less-safe, smaller car is certainly a *lot* more appealing given Irish roads, but if I'm going to be in an accident, I really want the newer one.)

@lowqualityfacts Because it's not true LQF.A *potato* is a misshapen apple. A *pear* is an apple that is trying to evolve into a pokémon.
