The original iPod RAID came equipped with almost 2TB of storage in a RAID 0 array, but enterprising collectors have been known to upgrade their units with up to 20TB of protected storage, enough to fit many months of continuous lossless music playing time.

@NanoRaptor Honestly combining the original ipod's user interface with a NAS for manual configuration would probably be significantly easier than whatever abomination most NAS boxes have been shipping for as long as I can recall.

@NanoRaptor My 1Tb iPod Classic never did turn up. But I've currently got a 512Gb microSD in the phone that's full and not big enough for the MP3 collection. I'm expecting the 1Tb card to be cheap enough next year to upgrade again.The other challenge is finding music software that can cope with Tb scale collections. Using Winamp on the PC and BlackPlayer on the phone.
