@TheFuzzStone being somewhat related, I actually do have the opinion that people should evaluate the way music is consumed. I’m sure someone will tell me I’m wrong but should ecofriendliness be desired, consumers should download to local storage over streaming.

@Metruzanca my TOTP codes are replicated across multiple devices and backed up to an encrypted drive. My backup codes are stored in my password manager because the odds of needing them is extremely low and I feel confident about the security of my password manager.

@codewiz they're not the biggest players but Rocket.Chat will be federating with the rest of the Matrix network and Teamspeak 5 will implement messaging with the Matrix protocol (not sure about federation).

@WhyNotZoidberg I'm not sure what you mean.Currently, it's true that Bluesky has a single algorithm but that's only because the protocol is new and hasn't achieved all of its goals yet. If we wait a year or two, we should have algorithmic choice in some form.

I've been testing #NextDNS using the built-in feature on #glinet devices. It doesn't work that well considering that the router is making 6000 DNS queries a day to check for firmware upgrades which makes the free tier largely useless. (You only get 300k queries per month.)

I reset a friend's #matrix password and they ask me "what's a security key?" 😪I tell everyone to keep it safe. But most people don't have a "safe" place.I offer to walk them through setting up a password a manager. Their response: " wasn't one hack recently? lol"

I feel pretty helpless when something like this happens. I understand that personal cybersecurity isn't really taught in school so I don't even really blame them. I don't want to push my ideologies on people but I want to make sure my communications are safe.
