@foone The next big thing: Nema-5-C.Power plug, but you don't have to flip the cable to make it fit.

@futurebird this is probably the strangest computer I own, that I can use to read Mastodon. It's double screen tft+eink book reader on Android 1.6. One can interact with it using tft touch-screen and there's also a button that syncs its content with the eink screen. In a book-reading app the tft display can be turned off, but that doesn't really help with the battery life anyway. Not gonna lie, using http proxy for opening https-only websites is not very smart thing to do regularly, but the contest rules ask to show Mastodon being red, so I'm doing it.

So yeah... I've got a trandparent laptop now. Which is a perfectly normal thing to own. Augmented reality, if you will. Please don't pay too much attention to a perfectly legal copy of WinXP and to BMW tuning software. I just didn't want to invest the time into installing an operating system before making sure that transparent mod works first.

Oh, and by the way, THAT is the proper basement for a real #liquidglass deal, not that #LiquidAss crap that Apple is pathetically messing around with.

@realcaseyrollins through a gentle surgical everythingectomy. That's model-specific, but I'm sure it could be done on most laptops. I took the display assembly off, disassembled it, removed all the optical stuff and cut away the central part of the frame that held it together, keeping a couple millimeters of border. Then before assemblying, I mounted the metal frame to the lid to mark where the corners of the screen were: just drilled through. Cut the top lid according to those markings and assembled it all together. This laptop has some LCD-controlling PCB behind the panel (visible on the picture) so I have to make a 3d-printed frame to hold it away, but some laptops don't have this problem. And also some webcam and audio cables were on the way, so I removed them, because I don't care.

@vik one can directly write SVG in text editor. It's just XML, describing geometry elements.Sure, OpenSCAD has fancy stuff like boolean operations on polygons, and even fancier stuff when using BOSL2, but when one is too hardcore to use GUI for grahical design, well, why not just write XML description according to SVG specification?

I just love those decorations, they are perfect in every detail! This #hotpink screen missing green channel! This sideways #BSOD! Feels right for this "end of the year" chaotic vibes.
