So yeah... I've got a trandparent laptop now. Which is a perfectly normal thing to own. Augmented reality, if you will. Please don't pay too much attention to a perfectly legal copy of WinXP and to BMW tuning software. I just didn't want to invest the time into installing an operating system before making sure that transparent mod works first.

Oh, and by the way, THAT is the proper basement for a real #liquidglass deal, not that #LiquidAss crap that Apple is pathetically messing around with.

@realcaseyrollins through a gentle surgical everythingectomy. That's model-specific, but I'm sure it could be done on most laptops. I took the display assembly off, disassembled it, removed all the optical stuff and cut away the central part of the frame that held it together, keeping a couple millimeters of border. Then before assemblying, I mounted the metal frame to the lid to mark where the corners of the screen were: just drilled through. Cut the top lid according to those markings and assembled it all together. This laptop has some LCD-controlling PCB behind the panel (visible on the picture) so I have to make a 3d-printed frame to hold it away, but some laptops don't have this problem. And also some webcam and audio cables were on the way, so I removed them, because I don't care.
