At the moment I'm leaning toward moderation action only if a fulltext-indexing instance actually proves to be a source of harassment or sealioning, but I understand how being more proactive might be helpful for peace of mind (not wanting to get back in the habit of saying "crapto" and "urtwork cammissians" and "T*RF")...

I've occasionally seen #Steam rattled off as an example of "enshittification"--it gets a mention in the blog post coining the term, alongside obvious examples like Google search and Amazon.Has the Steam user experience deteriorated that much? Maybe I just haven't been playing as many games out of the Steam launcher lately, being focused on things like MTG Arena and heavily modded X-Com, but I haven't noticed a downward spiral. Hasn't e.g. the Steam Deck been a genuine/deserved success?

It also ties into something else that's rattled around my head. I saw somebody's post pushing back on calling our experiences of fun "dopamine hits" etc., saying like "really? how do you know? are you actively monitoring the levels in your brain?"Maybe it's dehumanizing to buy into this concept that fun, enjoyment, drive, joy can be reduced to mechanisms of action of partially-understood neurotransmitters. Maybe we're assuming behaviorism is true, that it's all about a chemical "reward".

Dreamed I was playing a survivalcraft game modeled after early Final Fantasy. Top down 2D with cutaway battle scenes, and you built your base tile by tile. It was multiplayer, and @epsi was one of the players on my server.Except, he kept referring to characters that clearly weren't present in our game. I eventually figured out he was alt tabbing between several different sessions. "How many games are you playing at once?" I asked--sleep talking the question loudly enough to wake myself up.

You know what would be a cool sharing feature for video sites/apps...Ad hoc clip shares!Like how you can share a video with a timestamp for where to start watching, but also put in a *stop* point where it'll automatically pause. So you can share a specific slice of a video apropos to whatever you're talking about.

One thing that's so alien to me, when hearing about abusive and manipulative people, is the *strategy* of itThings like "ok I'm going to get close to person A and be a friend to them so that when I screw over person B as planned, person A will take my side"How do you even do that Count of Monte Cristo stuff? I wouldn't know how! Treating people as political instruments, friendship as a means to a tactical goal, it's a mindset I simply can't grasp.
