started reading this graphic memoir called talking to strangers, about the author getting sucked into a cult as a teen. i hate it! actually it's not the first gn i have read on this topic — there's a japanese woman (tamosan) who wrote a two volume graphic memoir about her life as a jehova's witness. of course this topic makes me think of the T... i'd love to see a detrans memoir comic... suppose it would be hard to get something like that published, but even online would be nice.

@evewyn kitchen towels usually work for me. cold temperatures can make stuff harder to open too, if it's been in a fridge, so you can warm the lid up with hot water or something.

@ObligateSpinster there's really not much more to it than what on these pages... this takes place at a writing workshop for WOC "and allies" (inspired by? or themed around octavia butler) and the two characters in the top left appeared out of nowhere to... act like people who would not go to an event focused on WOC. the other blond woman is "crazy vagina lady and the butch character is her ex.

i've never read any of her books and i feel a bit mean saying this but i think margaret atwood is honestly such a coward. like, you're over eighty years old. you should be immune to bullshit and the need to please men. and she's a multimillionaire so add that to how old she is, it wouldn't matter if she got ~cancelled~ she isn't gonna run out of money. but hey rowlings sold plenty of books in the past two years even though some of her books are over twenty years old now...

i don't understand butches (or any other lesbians) who actually LIKE the smell of "mens" soap/deodorant/etc. putting that stuff on the shelves was part of one of my old jobs and i HATED the smell of these products even when they were in their packaging, just like i hate the smell of them on a man mixed with their existing man smell. idk what any of them would be like on a woman but. i just can't imagine that it's any goodand MAN body washes always have names like SWAGGER or peace and like what does that even mean?? meanwhile womens products are like. things that exist. like cucumber like that actually feels non-gendered. and there are womens body washes that are really feminine, and some that are more neutral, but really none of the mens ones lean neutral they're all grey and red with a grip part on it and FOR MEN ykno. then also you have like head & shoulders and lever 2000 which are like the most neutral to me but anyway that job was like 5 years ago so. I'm not looking that closely any more and I just buy independently made "natural" shit (which feels neutral but... if it's not grey and named Turbocharger: FOR MEN" it's definitely for women yknoooo)

it's me again... recently i watched two lesbian documentaries from the 90s. one is framing lesbian fashion (which is on kanopy) and i was not a fan. really didn't like the "leather" section (there's one woman who talks about how at first she was uncomfortable with bdsm because of the connections with slavery and racism, but then she got over it because the only thing that matters is ~CONSENT~) plus a few other annoying scenes and there really wasn't anything in the documentary that i really could say i liked. the other one i watched was forbidden love (on the national film board of canada site) and that was pretty good. i'm sure multiple women in this documentary have since died but it's still nice seeing the really old lesbians in this documentary. not everyone in the documentary is that old but everyone in it comes off as likable (the one with the blue hat is so funny) and the stories are good.
