@Cloudguy @jbwharris it's kind of easy to log out of everything everywhere at once on Amazon. And using password and 2FA managers like Bitwarden and Aegis creates the opportunity to have heightened security afterwards.[P.S.: Thank you for the heads up, better tired and safe than late and sorry.]

@brunomiguel with premium? I'm so used to alternative apps with ad-blockers and tunneling that I don't think I'll need premium or to use Google's apps. Of they ever lock 1080p+ behind a paywall it'll be the day I'll stop using YouTube.

@brunomiguel does that option appear with you logged in?As for 4k going away, I'll suffer with it, but it won't stop me from watching videos on Xbox or my Smart TV (on alternate apps). On a mobile phone, even if I have a screen for it, I won't regularly use 4k, just 1440p, and could go with 1080p. On PC I'm still sporting FHD screens.I'll use tunneling and adblockers on everything (I'll delete my whitelist) the second FHD+ options disappear.

@BrodieOnLinux I bet they are using your 4k upload and then transcoding to 1080p with an higher bitrate than usual (like 1440p), calling it "Premium". YouTube content creators deserve the ad revenue but most already have ads inside videos, so why is Google sticking ads and more ads before and even twice/thrice in the middle of videos? Are they giving more money to content creators, or just trying to get more money out of people's pocket with premium? It is the 2nd option, I bet. @brunomiguel

@brunomiguel isn't that the intention? To make people stay way? So StalkerOS can still be "the standard"?

@maryjane também não se tinha a certeza em Tancos, até podia ser que o cadastro de armamento e munições estivesse errado! (que não estava).

@tuxedocomputers thank you, for adding the alt text. My Mastodon clients "pester" me to add alt text, they're a godsend.

@wauz I agree, but it is moderately possible they are. Given the recent attacks on the Laurentian University, and the Charcoal Typhoon/Bronze University attacks, there's certainly a state (CCP)-sponsored attack several on learning, knowledge and IP platforms online.@AkaSci @realmurphy

@wauz several network ans security researchers and companies saying it. As much as I distrust Microsoft, for example, I have a modicum of respect for SecureWorks, Recorded Future (Insikt Group Research) and several others. China (and other countries, of course) have several APT groups and the state hasn't done anything to stop them (they won't even recognise they exist, Chengdu is almost a safe haven and several contractor allegedly have ties to the local universities).@AkaSci @realmurphy

@josh @joepie91 wasting energy to generate moving air in order to displace leaves, of all things, from one place to another always dumbfounded me. Rakes exist, unless you are working with dangerous or impossible to walk on grounds, and you are able enough to carry a leaf blower, you can also handle a rake (exemptions for those that are unable for some physical reason, of course, I'm not trying to be ableist, far from it, my knees don't allow me to pull weeds' roots, so I use a burner+burner).

#Windows11 #23H2 Update made any touch or keyboard input delayed on my PC. Reversing the update made everything ok again. Do they test these updates, ever? There's always some stupid and easy to notice bug going on.

@JonathanMBR the only reformatting I'll be doing is to get away from Windows as far as I can. If it wasn't for some work related software that only works on Windows, I'd be far away already (once the rush I'm going through is done, I'll check my alternatives and maybe virtualize what I need). Enough is enough.

@darnell a mix of good (for solar) and bad (for hydro and wind) weather. The means for renewable energy production are installed, ready to work. I'd love to keep it going for more than 6 days, but a severe drought and unstable weather don't help. There seems to be no way to store excess power, so we sell it to where it is needed (it could be worse). @aram
