Imagine what it'd be like if we had great ventilation and HEPA filters in schools. Your whole family doesn't have to regularly get colds/flu. There'd be less absenteeism and higher productivity (I care less about that part myself but it should be a big selling point for businesses and capitalists). It'd reduce healthcare needs and cost. There's no downside to this.

You know what, I'm not sure that the whole "have to choose a server" deal is the real issue stopping people from migrating to #Mastodon. I think it's lack of features and function. Lack of search ability. No quote-RT equivalent. Can't see reply/boost/favorite numbers without clicking on a post. There is no good reason to not have these. Don't @ me with "but trolls use them—" Bullshit. Trolls are the problem with trolls, not the user tools.

Sorry to be so negative, but I really want these features. Good UI isn't what broke Twitter, and making #mastodon less functional isn't what will stop trolls. I know I'm not the only one, and I think we're going to have to start pushing harder and being more vocal about this.

@futurebird I used to try to push the idea of the USA’s health insurance system as anti-business because it makes businesses responsible for providing healthcare. But I couldn’t ever generate enthusiasm, which I suspect is because progressives don’t like the pro-business angle. I still think it’d be such a great counter to right wing arguments!

@futurebird Eggplant Parmesan with oven baked slices instead of frying them. It’s still a little time intensive dealing with all the slices but faster than frying (and healthier). For a big splurge use fresh mozzarella

@futurebird I don't think that it's hazing. Like, "I got the new person to open the paper and load the printer in a neat and orderly way, ha ha," just doesn't have real zing or hilarity to it. Whether truly needed or not, whoever told you that probably believed it to be true.And you're right about paper curl, so it could make a difference, especially with a touchy printer.
